The Art of Oz The Great and Powerful

Magicians never reveal their secrets. That may be true of the Great Oz, but not of acclaimed filmmaker Sam Raimi, who allows readers a special behind-the-scenes look at the magic and making of Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful in this new book. Written by Grant Curtis, the film’s executive producer, The Art of Oz The Great and Powerful details the production of the film, from initial conceptual art to early art department paintings and up to the final frames. Featuring never-before-seen film stills, concept art, and interviews with the cast and crew, The Art of Oz The Great and Powerful will take the readers through the entire filmmaking process, and into the magical land of Oz.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organisation has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS was directed by J.J. Abrams ("Super 8"), from a screenplay written by Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Returning for the sequel are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Zoë Saldana, and Anton Yelchin. Joined by new cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Now available at your local Blockbuster.

Love looking at concept art and comparing them to the final designs shown in the movie!

Never saw Oz and really never had any desire to, but Star Trek Into Darkness was just plain bad. The first one was great, and gave the filmmakers carte blanche to come up with any new Star Trek stories that they could dream up...and they choose to fall back on literally the most famous, well-known Star Trek story ever with Khan, except it made even less sense this time around. Ugh.

I enjoyed Oz, except for Kunis. Hopefully they'll recast if they move forward with the sequel. No idea who told that broad she was a good actress.

That Oz: The Great and Powerful art reminds me of something you'd see on World of Warcraft.

All I heard was Meg Griffin during Oz. They should've made it darker, but it's Disney. Rachel Weisz should've been the Wicked Witch. And the film should've focused on the rivalry between the witches instead of the boring wizard.
