Will this film ever be made? ReelzChannel is reporting that Sir Ian McKellen, the man that brilliantly portrayed Gandalf in "The Lord of the Rings trilogy," is losing interest in the project.
He states that "I was hoping when we came to New Zealand that I would be staying on to start The Hobbit films, but, as you know, they've been delayed, and I've no news to give you, except that an announcement is imminent, but what it will be I genuinely don't know. It'll either be that we're going ahead, or that we're not." McKellen goes on to remind the studio that he won't wait forever. "Well, I'm not under contract. And my time is running out. I'm enjoying working in the theater and, frankly, I would like to race after doing 'Waiting for Godot' and get on with doing another play, but we'll have to see. I don't want to give the producers the impression that I'm sitting waiting."

The4thWall: While I haven't read the books, I loved the movies and I was looking forward to this movie. With MGM losing money and the director's chair remaining empty, one can only imagine if this movie will actually be made. Tell me what you think in the comments below. ;)

This movie is going to suck. Its been in development hell for to long now. Its time to let it die and let it go. They ended the LOTRs triology on a good note lets leave it that way.

WTF... He's too old for that part in a prequel, good news!

Denn1s @ Lol!

truthfully I don't care much, it can't no way be near as epic as the LOTR's!

Should be getting DEADMAN, DR STRANGE movies over this!

@LEEE@ have you read the books? McKellen is no where near to old, to old to be Gandolf would be dead, Gandalf has always been described as an older man in his 70's and up, he never looked young in the books.

@Ven0m@ LOTR was in development Hell for along time too I thought this would get right on it's feet considering the popularity of the LOTR trilogy.
