The last we heard from the the Ghost Rider sequel, which is being titled, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance", was that the original 2007 "Ghost Rider" star Nicholas Cage WOULDN'T be reprising his role as the stunt motorcyclist, Jonny Blaze. But now it seems the movie is officially happening with THR claiming not only the reprisal of Cage, but the film gaining two duo directors.

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are in early negotiations to direct Columbia’s “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,” And Nicolas Cage is in early negotiations to reprise his role as Johnny Blaze.

THR includes that Plot details are under wraps, and it is not known if any other character from the previous movie will return.

And with a story written by David Goyer, the studio hopes to get principal photography going by late fall. And Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Michael De Luca and Steven Paul are producing, while Goyer and Mark Steven Johnson are exec producing.

The duo directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor was originally set to direct Jonah Hex, which hits theaters next month, but dropped out reportedly due to "creative differences". It was speculated that the duo wanted a dark take on "Hex", while the studio wanted something different. But I'm sure "dark" is the way to go with "Ghost Rider".

What do you think?

HELLZZZZZ YEAH!!!! and to Nick Cage. He played an awesome Ghost Rider the first time 'round and I think he'd be great again...especially if he gets to take it darker. Granted, he's kinda old for the part...but at least it's not another teeny bopper twat playing the most bad ass character Marvel ever came up with. I'm on board with this whole idea.

Fine with Cage as long as it's rated R and he stops all that cheesy finger pointing.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! That's it, I'm throwing my hat in the ring!!! (even though I'm not out of college). I have a direction that can last 3 movies, tying both the Johnny Blaze and Dan Ketch storylines together in the 3rd.

Just reboot it, and let me helm it in the near future! I would cast a YOUNGER lead actor!!!

The movie won't be good. It won't be rated R so the Ghost Rider we want won't come true.

I'm ok with everything, except Cage. Nonononononono.

At least that dweebie guy won't be playing Blackheart again!

They're bringing Cage back? Damn. He was ok as Ghost Rider but there are piles of other actors out there who are much, much better suited to the role! And having they guys behind Crank doesnt exactly fill me with a lot of confidence! Thank God for Thor, The First Avenger and The Avengers so we can not worry all that much about crap like this and X-Men: First Class! How great it would be if Marvel Studios had the rights to them as well... ;(

Finally some good comic book move news! These guys can bring the action, the script is by Goyer, and Cage is a great Ghost Rider! You can tell he really loves the character.

Let Marvel get the rights back and reboot it, this sequel is gonna suck. A year ago, I was wanting a sequel but something tells me its gonna be terrible if it ever gets released

Thank goodness for the new directors and the possibility of it going a darker way. But I'm still not really sold on Cage's return. I'm thinking that if they can "reboot" and recast F4, then why not with Ghost Rider?

mmm. Crank is a blast, but I dunno. Cage did ok as Blaze, maybe he is a bit too over the hill now though. He's not a character I care a great deal about though so whatever.

I think they should put Danny Ketch as the main character and Blaze has some importance in the story but isn't the main focus of the movie.

I liked the first one. Thought it was a good movie but it did not follow the comics. Cage was good but he is too old now.
Reboot time.

Boycott Boycott Boycott!!!!!!! I'm sure this movie will turn out to be a stinky turd, but even if it's Star Wars Episode V good everyone should boycott it! It's the only way to for Marvel to actually get the rights back!

shazam I think GR would win that fight, as much as i like Hellboy. i didnt mind the first one even though Cage was a lil campy being Blaze. i just wished it was gonna be a Marvel studios production.

i'm glad that cage is back. it's refreshing to see an actor that actually gives a shit about the character and loves the myth instead of someone who is just using this movie for the pay check or to take advantage of how popular the comic book movies are lately.

Glad to see Cage is back. I hate it when someone different plays the Star roll. Like with the Punisher movies. Three movies three different actors. I like the first movie a lot and I have high hopes for the next one. Just no more jellybeans please.
