The Green Hornet Trailer Premiere Date Announced!

The Green Hornet Trailer Premiere Date Announced!

IGN reveal the premiere date for the Green Hornet trailer and report that the teaser poster posted on this site earlier is in fact not official...

The site reports that the first trailer for The Green Hornet will make it's debut during Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday, June 21. Seth Rogen, who plays the title character, will be there as a guest and to introduce the trailer.

Earlier today, MultiPurposePoni posted an article which contained a picture (as can be seen below) that was sent to him of what appeared to be the official teaser poster for the movie. However, IGN have since been contacted by Sony who told them that the banners used at the show were actually made by the Licensing Expo, "using official assets for the film", and that the official poster is still yet to be unveiled.

This news of course casts doubt upon just how official the Transformers 3 and Thundercats banners are that were spotted at the Licensing Expo, not to mention whethere or not the Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger ones are indeed the final product or posters put together by the Expo rather than for it.

The site also goes on to say that, "any footage being shown at the Expo is not the official trailer for the film, either."

The Green Hornet will be released in 3D on January 14th, 2011!

Man, I forgot this craptastic failure would be released in 3D.

That trailer better be outstanding, because things aren't looking too good otherwise.

@clay
Just wondering. Did the trailer feature rock music, quick action sequences, and little to no talking? I've noticed that when a trailer features rock music, little to no talking (or doesn't tell what the plot is) and only shows action sequences then that movie USUALLY ends up being bad. So did the GH trailer have those elements in it?

I have a feeling the reaction of the audience after watching the trailer will be something like this:

claybo4131
claybo4131 - 6/9/2010, 9:11 PM
@Star they were more focused on the 3D part and it looked more like a parody than an action flick. There was something that was suppose to be rock music in it I think

Never been impressed with Gondry's work and really Rogan from stoner to action star; can't see it and then they postponed the date so they could make the movie 3D this does not bode well especially moving from a December release to a January release date. Wow not to mention starting a trailer 7 months in advance
asherman93
asherman93 - 6/9/2010, 9:39 PM
I'm going to wait for the trailer to come out before I say anything, who knows? It might end up being great. I mean, they've got a good director, Seth Rogen actually CARES about what the audience thinks, and its got CHRISTOPH [frick]ING WALTZ in it!!!! So I'll wait and see.

Who knows? Seth Rogen could become this generation's Michael Keaton. (Comedy star turns into great dramatic action actor)
claybo4131
claybo4131 - 6/9/2010, 9:39 PM
@star that trailer is 1000 times better

@bartman this movie has been delayed I swear about 7 times already. And there is no way I see Seth Rogan as an action star

Wow...if a fan trailer is better than a professionally made trailer then a whole new level of epic fail has just been created. Oh and was Christopher waltz in the trailer? I'd expect that they'd be showing off that they have a oscar winning actor. I'd be stupid to not boast it.

Claybo@ I did one of those surveys at the mall before!
They show you a couple trailers and you fill out a form
about what you thought! I've seen the trailers for several
movies that way before they ever were out to
the rest of the public!

If you saw it and it was lame I trust you! I was
hoping they weren't going to do this campy! If
it's got camp it's ferociously FAIL!!! And this
thing's got Chris Waltz and Edward james Olmos
in it! What a waste!

Damm! I like Green Hornet! Why can't someone do a
serious version of this franchise! It's not just
a copy of Batman. It's similar but not a copy!
That's unfair to call any idea that is similar to Batman, a rip-off of Batman!

Superman4@
The Spirit was a highly stylized version
created by Frank Miller! It was way too
over the top! But it was exactly the way
Frank wanted it done!

But Green Hornet isn't the same! Rogen
kept saying they were making a faithful
version of GH but they just made a silly,
campy, parody of it (if that's what they
did?) It deserves to fail if they just
made fun of Green Hornet!

@DDD Yeah I hadnt seen the trailer in the theater before, and when they asked me what were the 3 things I liked most about it, I had a hard time even coming up with one.

I just dont see Seth Rogan as an action hero, he seems too much of a douche. He plays the same characters in all this films just about its hard for anyone to take him seriously in that role, but this looks like a parody of it more than something serious.
flames809
flames809 - 6/10/2010, 7:08 AM
finally a trailer so people could see it then judge it. rather than judging the movie from poster, toys and some pictures on sets.

@clay
*facepalm* wow this movie keeps sounding worse and worse. I personally can't believe they focused more on the 3D rather than the fact that they have a OSCAR-WINNING-ACTOR in the movie! Does the studio not know that Christoph waltz has box office draw? So does the trailer seem like the movie will be a mindless action film (err mindless parody action film)?
supermarioworldE
supermarioworldE - 6/10/2010, 7:50 AM
@Blank

I didn't literally mean that it didn't "look" good as I have only seen some pictures and props from the film. I meant that the production behind it hasn't been looking too good so far.

The production has gone through hell, with various directors signing on and off the project, until we got stuck with Michael Gondry, who I'm not particularly a big fan of. Seth Rogen and Even Goldberg have written the script, but they don't have too many screenwriting credits. In fact, apart from Superbad, I haven't seen too many written works of theirs that were above mediocre. Hell, even Nic Cage turned down the chance to play the main villain in the movie, and he's been in some of the worst movies that have come out of Hollywood for the past couple of years.

Filming dates as well as release dates have been pushed back many times. The post 3D conversion just really adds to the whole lazy atmosphere of the whole production. Early reception from the studio (which may or may not be true) have shown that they thought that the film might have been too campy, which I can believe because Seth Rogen has commented in an interview that he was told inject more comedy into the script in an attempt to "make it funnier".

There are many indicators of this films failure, but if it does turn out to be good, I'll take you up on your offer and be the first to admit so.
Stumblin
Stumblin - 6/10/2010, 7:54 AM
Observe and Report and Pineapple Express both showcases how much of a kick ass Seth is. I love seeing everyone on the hate Seth bandwagon it's pretty silly.

I still think this movie will whoop some ass, I have trust in the director and actors. Stars how can you say they're focusing too much on 3D than the Oscar winning actor? You haven't seen anything for the film yet. Their is no official poster or advertisement for the film anywhere, even that poster shown isn't an official representation for the film, the studio didn't even put it together, they just needed something quick and dirty for the convention.
