New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Featurette Released; "Guardians Of Good"

As part of a campaign to search for young men and women from across the United States to share their stories of how they are bettering their communities through service, science or innovation, Marvel have released a new featurette for Guardians of the Galaxy. Check it out!

By JoshWilding - Jun 11, 2014 02:06 PM EST

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

MARVEL’S “GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY”—GUARDIANS OF GOOD invites real “Guardians of the Galaxy,” young men and women (ages 14-18) from across the United States, to share their stories of how they are bettering their communities through service, science or innovation, and gives them the opportunity to connect with a galaxy of Peer Guides—who are already doing great things—to learn from their successes. Entries will be accepted between June 11, 2014 and June 29, 2014.

Application forms, eligibility requirements, official contest rules and more information are available at http://www.marvelguardiansofgood.com.

Applicants for GUARDIANS OF GOOD will participate in online sessions with Peer Guides, who will include representatives from generationOn, Broadcom MASTERS®, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” Ultimate Mentor Leadership Council. Peer Guide sessions are scheduled to take place between June 13, 2014 and June 21, 2014. The Peer Guides will discuss their personal stories of service, science or innovation as well as learnings and advice.

Following the Peer Guide sessions, all applicants will then submit a short video explaining how they are improving the galaxy and what inspiration and guidance they received from their Peer Guides. The five best video entries will be selected as winners.

The five winners will each receive: Two round-trip tickets to Hollywood, including hotel accommodations, from July 20 through July 23, 2014, to be on the red carpet at the World Premiere of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” on July 21, 2014; an invitation to the first-ever GUARDIANS OF GOOD INNOVATION & SERVICE SUMMIT on July 22 at The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, where professionals and peers will share their knowledge; a backstage tour of the Disneyland Resort; and a red-carpet screening of the film at a Dolby® Atmos TM Theatre in or near the winner’s hometown.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released on August 1st.

It was good but nothing ground-breaking like Cap 2 or the Avengers. I enjoyed very much for what it was, an action packed sci fi space adventure:)

ckal-exactly Cap 2 was great imo, also Captain America is one of my favorite superheroes and he holds a special place in my heart

you guys can call me a MCU fanboy or Marvelite or whatever.... but...M SO FRICKING EXCITED FOR THIS FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,im glad to hear bradley cooper as rocket stole the show,im just so fricking excited for the MCU,tbh, while i have my problems with thor 2,i do like it overall due to its character relationships, interactions, humor from thor and loki, the action etc, but it seemed to me that the MCU was getting a little stale BUT then TWS comes in and changes that, giving me my favorite MCU film so far(hoping guardians beats it) and then looks great, the netflix series sound great, especially looking forward to Iron Fist and Daredevil with the Casting of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, also im worried for Ant Man but im still gonna be optimistic...hopefully it is good ..i am loving the cast and the synopsis sounds very cool imo....Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. ITS A SUPERHERO HEIST FILM ,THATS AWESOME IMO!!!!

I still think Guardians will be Marvel's next billion dollar hit, even after watching this featurette. I will rank it #1 of the best films of 2014 when I see it.

I dont think its gonna hit a billion, it will hit decent numbers but I dont think its going to beat out Thor 2 or Cap 2. I asked my friend to come with me to watch it so I showed her the trailer and she said it looks stupid. I dont think the GA is ready for all of that.

I like James Gunn's enthusiasm for the film. I was loving the featurette in the beginning showing GOTG footage and Chris Patt talking about the film but my interest dwindled down when kids started talking.

It's for a good cause to give recognition to those that should deserve more for what they do.

They're doing these connection with the community with Star Wars and now with GOTG, hopefully next time they'll do it with the comics/comicbooks enthusiast and hardcore fans community.

I think this will be better serve with the NETFLIX series since they're stating that it's for the hardcore fans.
