GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Concept Art Highlights One Of The Sequel's Most Emotional Moments

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was a fun movie but the sequel's climax packed a real emotional punch as Yondu sacrificed himself to save his surrogate son, Peter Quill. As Star-Lord pleaded with his unexpected father figure not to give up his life, the fan-favourite Ravager redeems himself in the cold darkness of space. It was a memorable moment and one Marvel Studios managed to keep secret.

Concept artist Andy Park has taken to Twitter to provide a new look at the scene as we watch Yondu blasting off into the atmosphere with Quill in his arms as Ego the Living Planet explodes behind him.

It's a stunning piece of work and a fitting tribute to the character. It remains to be seen whether or not Yondu will reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially as long dead heroes and villains have frequently been resurrected in flashbacks! We'll have to wait and see but feel free to let us know your thoughts on
this impressive Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 artwork in the comments section.

I'm gonna get a lot of sh*t for this but I don't feel emotional at this part at all. The final battle is full of cheesy dialogue and unnecesarry banters that I can't take things seriously any more.
I really like the movie up until the final battle though, and I prefer it over the 1st.

@KIDCOM - well actually your NOT gonna get a lot of shit for expressing your opinion because a good MCU movie is never enough, even if most blockbusters suck

but dont you dare say anything bad about WW even tho its average and ill start a petition to shut down rotten tomates if you give a dc movie a low score

@dotherightthing - aren't you the turd that said "DC SUX" yesterday?

at least try a little to hide your blatant bias. guess what? dc movies and mcu movies are never good enough, and fans will get bitchy if you express a negative onion on either. Don't play the victim.

Nothing in a CBM this year (so far) beats the Ravager funeral in terms of emotional impact. For me, at least.

I didn't see GotG in theaters, and took a risk and bought it on Blu-ray and I wasn't disappointed! I went into this one hoping for the same chemistry, heart and humor and again, I wasn't disappointed! I actually liked Vol. 2 better than the first and extremely hyped for Vol. 3! James Gunn keeps knocking em outta the park!

@MeAreLegend - I don't know. Not really sure how they could have solved the galactic genocide thing without killing him. Plus I don't really know what else he could do to warrant a return. His purpose is for conflict with Peter for being his father. And all of that was addressed here.

@Invasion96 -

Right now an amateur journalist is toiling away over the article in the hopes of posting it on CBM.com, with no idea that a slightly inebriated editor started the article one minute beforeand then went back to sleep.

@Invasion96 - How fast we got from "it will struggle to pass even TASM2" to "but it won't touch the Raimi movies" to "oops, now it's the second highest grossing Spidey movie ever".
