Sorry Marvel Faithful, James Gunn Says No THOR In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, VOL. 2

That's okay Gunn. The Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom has already quickly moved on from a Thor cameo to another theory, that the hammer actually belongs to the second person to wield Mjölnir...

Despite the fact that James Gunn previously stated that no Avengers would be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, the image of Gunn holding Mjölnir was simply too tempting not to speculate that Chris Hemsworth's Thor might be making an appearance in the sequel.  The rumors spread so far across the net that it appears Gunn has needed to make a second declaration that no Avengers are appearing.

But what about another welder of  Mjölnir? No, not Frog Thor, Beta Ray Bill!  With Gunn debunking the rumor of Thor, the Marvel fandom is quickly moving on to speculating on an appearance from the last Korbinite.

It's another unlikely rumor that Gunn will likely deny in a few days but until then, it's fun to speculate.

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is produced by Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Nik Korda and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Vol. 2 hits US theaters on May 5, 2017.

There was no need for him to be in the movie anyways.

Thor is my favorite superhero, I'd love to see more of him, but objectively it would be stupid to put him in the movie, he already has his own movie next year and the GotG are already popular and crowded.

Thor doesn't need to be in GOTG. It's good to keep the film self-contained and not make it like Age of Ultron, BvS and Iron Man 2. Those films aren't as good as other superhero films because it they lose the focus of the plot and make an advert for the next one.

I thought I read that Thor would be powerless in Ragnorak, so then it would make sense he doesn't have his hammer.

And speaking of hammers, I miss Justin.

@jaysin420 - I dunno about that. Powerless for much of Thor, absent for much of Age of Ultron and now powerless for much of Thor 3 ? Thor keeps getting shafted

@MiopTop - Yea I hope not and I def could be wrong, but I thought I read it somewhere. Might have been a theory or something tho, I read a lot of stupid stuff.

You know, part of me doesn't believe that Namor is completely back under Marvel Studios, and I kinda figured some Representative would've reached out and retracted the statement about it... Kinda gives me a bit of hope.
