Dave Bautista Now Says He's No Longer Sure He Wants To Work For Disney After James Gunn's Firing

Dave Bautista has been very outspoken about Disney's decision to fire Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn and during a recent TV interview, he discussed his future (or lack thereof) as Drax.

Disney is holding firm with its decision to fire James Gunn as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's director and that hasn't sat well with star Dave Bautista. He's taken to social media on several occasions to voice his displeasure but he took that one step further last night during an interview on national television when he told Jonathan Ross that he may ultimately decide against working for Disney again.

While the actor will return for Avengers 4 reshoots, the former WWE Superstar was quick to cast doubt on the possibility of him reprising the role if and when a third Guardians movie does happen.

"It's a bitter, bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn," he revealed. "They're putting the movie off, it's on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you, I don't know if I want to work for Disney." It's not like Bautista is playing hardball for more money and he clearly doesn't care what sort of negative impact these remarks could later have on his career...

Good on him, he’s been great in everything I’ve seen him in and proven to be quite versatile.

@DetectiveCinema - just freaking quit already...Disney doesn’t need you! They could CGI Dax and his 18 lines of dialogue...smh

@Trimount - He can't just quit, he's under contract. He might be hoping for Disney to fire him though.

@Trimount - I doubt DetectiveCinema is Bautista.

And who is Dax?

@DetectiveCinema - Well given that Disney now control 2 of the major studios in Hollywood, I wouldn't say it's a great move from someone that seems to be moving more and more back to direct-to-DVD films.

And yes, Bautista is good as Drax. But I do believe he's quite easily replaced.

@DetectiveCinema

GotG V2 would like to have a word...but that was more of the script than his acting.

I like Dave Bautista and have enjoyed his various works but at the same time he straddles both Big Blockbusters and Direct to DVD work (I've watched both). Unfortunately he can find himself falling into that trap of lack of big movies.
I understand he is standing up for someone who is a friend to him.

@SimplyAz - I'm pretty sure that's what going to happen. His upcoming flicks are mostly direct-to-DVD and a move like this will probably not help his career.

Morally, it's a solid move. But it's not a smart one.

@Philip -

Just had a look at his filmography and I hadn't quite realised how much of the upcoming stuff is Direct to DVD. I'm an action movie junkie and will probably watch a few, but cannot imagine a lot of people doing so.
