Chris Pratt Promises That GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Is Still Happening

We now know for sure that James Gunn won't be at the helm of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but Chris Pratt has gone on record to say that Marvel Studios plans to "wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was supposed to be released in 2020 but James Gunn's firing put the brakes on the threequel and Disney wasted no time in sending crew members home who had already assembled for pre-production.

Since then, the fate of the movie has remained somewhat unclear. While Marvel Studios has reportedly talked to a number of filmmakers, it seems as if they're reluctant to try and follow in Gunn's footsteps, especially as you know critics would never stop comparing that version of Vol. 3 to what might have been (the same thing happened to Ant-Man after Edgar Wright's departure).

For what it's worth, Chris Pratt has now insisted that the movie is still in the works. "I promise there’ll be a third movie, I don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like, but I know everyone on board is just eager to give the fans what they want and wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way."

"We’re still circling the city of Jericho, I like to say," Pratt added in what's hopefully a sign that things are looking up for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

It's definitely going to be interesting seeing how Marvel Studios handles things from here because it's hard to imagine them wanting the publicity that could come with releasing Vol. 3 in the same year as James Gunn's The Suicide Squad movie. However, it was supposed to launch a Cosmic Universe for the studio so they'll only want to hold off on that for so long, one might think.

I wonder how they’ll handle Vol. 3 and if they bring all the team members back. Personally I hope they’ll do a Thor and Star-Lord buddy cop like movie in the future

@MalseMarcel - they will. The original plan for 3 was that you dont have to see any avengers movies to see it. And endgame was basically finished before gunn was fired, so its too soon for rewriting all those characters staying dead, and since they have those characters it makes sense to use them in one more movie. The only maybe is bautista, but im sure they can work something out if its for one more movie.

yyyyeah... I don't know if "EVERYONE" is board exactly like he says. Granted it would seem possible some tempers have eased somewhat by now, and I'm not sure if Dave Bautista would be facing some kind of genuine contract dispute if he refused to return, but I certainly wouldn't put him in the bank yet.

And for those who were taking such a true, principled stand with Gunn getting fired from the director's chair in the first place but you're perfectly fine with his entire screenplay still getting used, congrats you've proven what a hypocrite only really caring about the most surface-level of the whole argument the whole time. I'd have more respect for you if you were just as offended he still had any professional role in the film whatsoever.

@CaptCoulson - i just dont think its worth fussing about with the script. Especially since by now they're definitely gonna rewrite it. I mean, stuff is gonna change in the mcu by the time the movie finally comes out.

Sigh. I wish a lot of you guys would just sit this convo out. There's a fairly novice level of nuance comprehension that's required to engage in the discourse on this and I've been amazed at the number of you guys that still fail to meet it

@OmegaDaGrodd - now see, it genuinely STUNS me to hear you make such a point.

I'll admit, this particular article, okay I shouldn't have brought that up. It still pisses me off, but I shouldn't have here.
But practically the whole goddamn point of why so many have gotten this wrong is because the LACK of nuance. In my experience, nuance is by far the most common thing missing from any type of real discussion on any meaningful topic online, it genuinely kind of depresses me how few people are apparently able to or even bother trying to navigate it. Though I generally have a pretty dim view of humanity anyway.

Vol.2 had its moments for sure and it’s a real shame that Gunn can’t finish his trilogy but I’m looking forward to a new take on these A**holes😊
