Variety report that Sony Pictures and Escape Artists have hired Richard Wenk rewrite their He-Man pic Masters of the Universe. Alex Litvak and Mike Finch wrote the initial draft of the script, originally titled "Grayskull."

Wenk most recently penned the script for Sony's The Equalizer, a big screen remake of the tv series which will star Denzel Washington. He also worked on 16 Blocks, The Mechanic, and he co-wrote The Expendables 2 with Sylvester Stallone. So, we can expect quite a bit of action as is only right, but much else? Guess we'll find out. Jon M. Chu (Step up 2, Step Up 3, Bieber, GI JOE: Retaliation) will direct the movie which "follows a young prince who becomes a warrior and sets out to defeat the evil Skeletor and fulfill his destiny as He-Man". Yes, adjust your expectations accordingly.

I just hope that we get a REAL He-Man movie this time. A tone similar to that of Thor would be perfect.

Kinda movie I'd buy the DVD or Blu Ray if it was visually amazing but wouldn't be too excited about.

Why they aren't using Justin Marks' MOTU script is beyond me. It's as close to perfect as you can get.

He-Man would be awesome on the big screen if done right!

I can't say the guy penning the script is giving me high hopes though.

At first I saw HE-MAN movie and got excited!

Read the article and saw the people who are making this and got worried. These people have pretty bad resumes. I would like to see this movie done right. He-Man is cool but with these people working on it I can't really expect much of anything. Sadly.

I don't really think the Masters of the Universe has the staying power that Transformers, Ninja Turtles or GI Joe has. Some things were meant to be cancelled and fade away.
