ARMY OF THE DEAD Interview: Joe Fidler Talks Up The "Top Tier Stunt Team" And "Amazing Action"

The internet has been ablaze with Zack Snyder's name for some time now, mostly in part due to this month's Justice League Snyder Cut release date. While many fans are excited to see the four-hour finished product with additional characters, horror fans are looking forward to something else from Zack Snyder this year: Army of the Dead.

Longtime fans of Snyder's 2004 film Dawn of the Dead are waiting to see more zombie action from the new Netflix film, which hits the platform on May 21, 2021. While Army of the Dead may not share the same universe as its 2004 counterpart, this new movie is the beginning of a sprawling world that will utilize a prequel film and an anime to flesh it out.

 To learn a bit more before its releases, we chatted with stuntman and actor Joe Fidler about his involvement in the upcoming film.

 "Look for some amazing action in Army of the Dead. I think that everyone will be impressed with what goes on and what was created. So the stunt team around that was top tier, and they had a good, fair budget for what they were trying to do.

There was a lot of preparation that went into it. The guys who worked on it and everyone who put it together really knocked it out of the park. So I think you should look for a lot of really great action in that."

Fidler clearly has a lot of praise for the team behind Army of the Dead, and it's good to know that a hefty budget and passionate creatives are behind bringing it to fruition. You can hear him talk about working with Snyder on Army around the 10 minute and 33-second mark and other projects like The Suicide Squad, The Punisher, Henry Danger, and Henry Danger.

Army of the Dead is set to release on May 21, 2021.

Wont be watching it, but as long as Snyder stays away from DC, good for him.

Dawn Of The Dead was probably his best movie

@dracula - That's not saying much. DotD had its moments, but once you watch the "helicopter-view-car-crash" scene at the beginning and realize that the van came out of literally nowhere, you can't unsee it. ?t=153

@MrCamw1 -

Awesome dude, I'm glad you liked it.

Yeah I could see them getting together,in the parts set in their future.

Did you think an adaptation of it could work as a movie/TV series?

@SimplyAz - I read there was a movie in the works. I don't know if there's enough material for a full show....maybe a mini series but I'd say age up the characters a bit. It already has the Strabger Things vibe so biggest concern is that it would be compared to that. If they do go with movie it's has to be more than an hour 30 for sure.

@MrCamw1 -

True, I can see the 1980's Stranger Things-esque bubble burst as well.
Would be glad to see a movie....!!!

the problem is that a good zombie movie is not the action / comedy that is important.
It is the horror to see the decline of society and a good narrative.
That is the great problem of the genre, there is no good script . most are cardboard fans without any kind of demand to the genre (they haven't even seen NotLD 1968).
DOTD 2005 only the initial 5 minutes were epic after that repetitive and the rest plagiarism (tvnews,etc.).
