So it's been quite a while since we've heard anything about the sequel to 'Cloverfield', and I think it's safe to say that most of us were doubting that it was even going to happen. Director Matt Reeves recently talked to TotalFilm and he gives us an update on Cloverfield 2 and says that yes, we will see it.

"Well, you are going to see it - we just don't know when [laughs].

"At the moment we are talking about the story quite a lot. Drew Goddard, who wrote the original, is going to pen the sequel and JJ Abrams is very much involved.

"However, the three of us have been so busy that getting the right idea together has been taking a long time."

But will the sequel shoot in real-time again? "You see, that's a difficult part: we want it to be shot like the first but how can you continue that idea successfully for a second time?

"We have a lot of affection for the original and the sequel can't just be the same thing. But that is tricky when you need to have a monster destroying stuff once again."

So there you have it folks, 'Cloverfield 2' is alive, it's just a matter of time for now. The thing with 'Cloverfield' is in my opinion, it doesn't need a sequel, I think a sequel wold be amazing and lots of fans want it, but to me it always felt like the story ended and the viewer was left to use their own imagination as to what happened after the credits rolled. Either way I think a sequel is definitely going to be interesting.

Wow. firsters and guys like superfaggot makes me want to not want to come to this site anymore. Ya, Grif's a troll. But these guys are much worse. This site better not go to shit. It's too good to be weakened by wannabe directors.

I didn't care much for Cloverfield. Too much running and screaming and nowhere near enough giant monster.

As I understand it, the so called sequel is just ANOTHER home movie of the exact same event. That sucks

If the sequel is done about the same chronology as the first one, in the same first person style it needs to be from the perspective of someone who will give us answers. The next Cloverfield needs to give answers, or it is not worth doing.

Cloverfield was just amazing and breath-taking. I swear it shot me in a trance for the longest and its like I was there. I couldn't stop watching it and getting traumatized over and over, again, lol.

So um... take the story somewhere other than New York please... NY monsters/apocalypses/superhero settings happen there too often. Go for Chicago.

One of the worst giant monster designs ever.

Have it be from a soldiers helmet cam, OR the helmet cam mixed with white house security tapes, OR the soldiers getting audio from the whitehouse somehow

There's alot they can do with this :)

Good deal. The first one was fantastic, but as much as I like "using my imagination" to determine the end of the story. That's like reading a book and the ripping out the last few chapters. I want to see more of the story unfold. Do it "live action" again. You can always just use a news crew? Interviews and such, running story in the NY area and maybe leads into following military or scientists? It's kinda cliche, but it's simple enough.

I hated the first one, and I typically love this type of film. In the sequel, I hope for:
1. Good acting
2. More monster
3. A lot more monster

It sounds like this is a long way off from happening...
