A young girl (Bailee Madison) sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own.

The film is directed by comic book artist Troy Nixey and is co-written by Del Toro. It's actually a remake of an old tv movie from the 70s which used to scare the bejesus out of me as a nipper.

Good stuff Ror. I have never been a fan of horror flicks BUT I have liked everything Del Toro has been involved in. This looks very cool indeed.

I want to see this movie, I hear it was rated R simply for being extremely horrific.

Del-Toro: "We originally thought we could shoot it as PG-13 without compromising the scares, and then the MPAA came back and gave us a badge of honor. They gave us an R for 'pervasive scariness.' We asked them if there's anything we could do, and they said, 'Why ruin a perfectly scary movie?'" Don't Be Afraid of the Dark was rated R by the MPAA for violence and terror.
