The final(?) chapter in the Halloween legacy trilogy, Halloween Ends, is set to slice its way into theaters this October, and fans have been anxiously awaiting a look at some footage from David Gordon Green's movie since the CinemaCon teaser received such a positive reaction after the highly divisive Halloween Kills.
Now, star Jamie Lee Curtis has taken to Twitter to announce that the first trailer will be online on July 20.
Test screenings for two separate cuts of the slasher were reportedly held earlier this week, and potential spoilers have found their way online. Because we can't be certain what's bogus and what's accurate, we won't be sharing them here, but we do have one very interesting plot detail from a reliable source.
According to scooper Viewer Anon, a new character named Corey will be introduced in the film, and will actually have a more substantial role than both Laurie Strode (Curtis) and her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak). Played by The Hardy Boys actor Rohan Campbell, this mysterious young man is said to be "the glue holding the movie together."
We don't have much more to go on, but there's already a lot of speculation that Corey could turn out to be Michael Myers' son. That would be one way to continue the story without "The Shape," but if they do decide to take the iconic horror franchise down this road, we can't imagine many fans will be too happy about it!
Kills (you can check out our 3-star review here) was basically a showcase for Myers' relentless appetite for destruction, but Green confirmed that Ends is going to take the story in a very different direction altogether during a recent interview with Empire.
“It’s kind of a coming-of-age film, and it’s a very different tone,” said the director. “That’s what excited me about it, is to have the three chapters that I’ve been involved in be very different from each other. They are all there to honor Carpenter, but aren’t necessary just emulating him.”
What do you guys think? Any idea how Corey might factor into the story? Drop us a comment down below.
