Though John Carpenter's original Halloween is rightly considered to be one of the scariest movies of all time, it's surprisingly light on gore - but it seems very clear that David Gordon Green's upcoming sequel will not be following suit.

Bloody Disgusting has shared a couple of scanned stills from Rue Morgue magazine, and they give us a gruesome look at a couple of Michael Myers' latest victims: a police officer with his throat slashed and what appears to be a human jack-O'lantern on his lap, and a garage mechanic with his mouth completely ripped apart.

Though this should make horror fans happy, let's hope the blood doesn't come at the expense of the sustained terror and tension of the original.

Halloween slices its way into theatres in October.

@THRILLHO - I meant the Holloween movie franchise has gotten old and doesn't carry much appeal anymore.

Also, before anyone starts saying this movie is just a cash grab using gore and not understanding what made the original so scary.

One can also say that gore does not instantly equal a film without scary atmosphere or tension.

Will this movie succeed? I really hope so, and everything I've seen looks like it could capture both the original's tone while also adding some brutal and gory kills.

I hope they don't overdo it with the gore. Part of what makes the original so great is its simplicity & the fact that they didn't go nuts with the blood. The atmosphere spoke for itself without having to do anything over the top. It's allowed it to age extremely well. Either way, I'm very excited for this, I think it looks great.
