The movie's official Twitter account has debuted a stunning new poster for the upcoming Halloween revival, featuring "The Shape" (Nick Castle) looking more than ready to revisit his reign of terror over Haddonfield.
In related news, director David Gordon Green has revealed that the script went through 80 drafts, and some of them did incorporate the various sequels to John Carpenter's original.
"We started incorporating all the follow-ups and then it got overwhelming trying to engineer something that made sense," Green explained during an interview with THR. "Some of the plot points became a little stretched thin as the franchise went on. And so ultimately finding those frustrations, [Danny] McBride came to me and just said, “What’s the Michael Myers movie that you really want to see?” Halloween 1 was, to me, the most pure and, in a lot of ways, the most simple. I get the real connection with the terror of a movie that isn’t so lost in its own mythology.”
How do you guys feel about this Halloween movie ditching the sequels? Do you think they should have kept the events of Halloween 2 canon, at least? Let us know in the usual place.
