Meet Fright Night's New Peter Vincent - David Tennant

Meet Fright Night's New Peter Vincent - David Tennant

The remake of Fright Night — the story of Charley Brewster discovering his next door neighbor Jerry Dandridge is a vampire, then turning to vampire hunter Peter Vincent to help kill him - is coming to theatres in October 2011. One significant change — Roddy McDowall's vampire killer has been replaced by David Tennant's illusionist.

The powers that be, in modernizing the Tom Holland original, decided that the idea of a vampire hunter was out of mode (particularly the idea that Peter Vincent was actually a fallen actor now hosting a late night horror show) and decided to update it by going the Chris Angel way (the image for which was originally posted by ShockTillYouDrop.com).

What follows is a look of Peter Vincent then, a comic book cover in between (just to remind readers that there was a successful tie-in series) and Peter Vincent now.

After the images, let us know which version you would prefer.

The only way I see it working is if they portray the character like Roddy McDowell did. It would be a funny rip on Cris Angel.

OMG that is freaking horrible WTF that picture just made me shart my self. The sad thing is that experience will be more enjoyable than this movie. Love the original but this has to be a joke or the movie will be.

jbender is right. This could still be okay if they make the character comedic, like Roddy McDowell. Rather than making fun of the formerly arrogant washed up actor, they're making fun of the flamboyant and arrogant modern illusionist.

If your going to do a remake you might as well change some stuff like this. Its not like they could find someone to top Roddy McDowell playing this exact same character.

This movie doesn't NEED to be remade, but hopefully it will be a good remake since its happening.

WOW! Has Anyone noticed who ever posts the first Comment decides if something is good or bad, if I would have posted how great it looks first then everyone would have been all Like WOW THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME,people it isn't that bad Fright Night was a Corny film the reboot remake whatever will be far better or maybe not who knows you can't judge it by one picture so just shut up already ,lol

well, it's kind of hard to choose a version since all we have of the new movie is a mere image of tho good Doctor. Until we actually see some footage of him or the actual movie, there is nothing to compare. period.

@ArrionShadow - Hey! jbender and I are fighting the conformity! And the original was corny, but still good.

Also, you guys are complaining about the look, but I am guessing it is supposed to be a pop culture stereotype that they are going to intentionally make fun of, kind of like in the original. Get it?

BY THE WAY LOOK AT WHAT THE EARLIER CONCEPTS WERE FOR THE DARKNIGHT"S JOKER..

If you thought Heath Ledger’s Joker was scary, take a look at the picture above. The guys over at slashfilm have scanned pictures from The Dark Knight: Featuring Production Art and Full Shooting Script, which show off some early concept art for The Joker. All these takes on The Joker are pre-Ledger so perhaps it was his casting which inspired the final Joker we got in DARK KNIGHT. Whatever the case, I like his Joker best. He wasn’t as visually disturbing. Instead, it was his actions that made him such a menacing force. What do you think? Would such a horrifying Joker have distracted too much from Ledger’s great performance?

I'm sure David Tennant will pull it off, no matter what. Just walk in to the theater and try not to compare the two too much.

I love that joker, but I think that may have been pushing it a bit too far.
