Producers Of "Buffy" Movie Did Contact Whedon About The Reboot

Joss Whedon spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the proposed "Buffy" reboot..

After the pretty much universal backlash when it was announced that a "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" movie would be going ahead without the man that put the point on her stake in the first place, the big-screen project’s producers did “ultimately reach out” to franchise mastermind Joss Whedon, Whedon reveals to Entertainment Weekly.

Busy with both “Cabin in the Woods” movie post-production and preparing a second season of “Dollhouse,” Whedon apparently indicated he had little or no interest in what is expected to be a reboot free of such beloved characters as Willow, Xander, Giles, Angel, Faith and Spike.

“I think that's something better left untouched by me,” Whedon tells Entertainment Weekly. “So I wish them luck.”

And its luck they will need! An EW poll reveals that only 3% of respondants would see a Whedon-free “Buffy.”

just scrap it then if Joss doesnt want it. Unless of course it's done by someone else who had their fingers in the TV series. At least get Joss to consult.

Just let the franchise die. It's not worth rebooting. The show itself was a reboot I think. And I don't think there's enough in the premise to reboot it twice.

If Whedon does not want to touch it then maybe thats a good indication not to. I think that it is still too soon to bring these characters to the big screen especially if they are going to bring in a new cast. They are trying to capitalize on the Twilight movie. Which to me the whole Twilight series does seem to take a lot of those love/teen angst themes that the Buffy series was known for.

I could give two shits about the TV series. Bring on the movie flicks. I love the first and the TV series was a major pot hole. Bring back Ruebens!

The Buffy movie was an experience akin to having my eyelids stretched out and hammered like i was Sylvester in a Tweety cartoon. It was BAD. The show, after a couple of teeny/cheesy seasons was, for the most part, very good..sometimes great.

Yeah, I enjoyed the hell out of that contest. I don't get to do stuff like, that often. As soon as I saw it I ran and and grabbed my sketch pad, and 20 minutes later BAM! I use a crappy office depot mechanical pencil, always a mechanical pencil. And finally I'm not a girl, although I have been told I would look really pretty in a dress. Please avoid the urge to go jerkin' the gherkin.

this whole Reboot of Buffy is gaaaaaaaytastic......

The show was amazing and should be left alone not converted into a movie, and besides the series only stopped running new episodes a few years ago and last i knew FX was still running reruns so obviously the show is still in demand why kill a something that doesn't need to be shot.

Shaman - 6/12/2009, 12:36 PM
Rorschach01- You know to much!!! Must take you to planet Randy and randomise you!!! LOL :P Nah i think it's because of the overload of girls we've been having here (2 or 3 LOL). It warped my fragile little mind :))

Triptheorist- You did the pic above with a mechanical pencil??? What's a mechanical pencil??? And put on yo damn dress!!!

Osiris- Cause the bunch of'em are idiots.

A mechanical pencil is the kind of pencils that require refills on a special lead. They are made usually from plastic and when the lead breaks you press the eraser in order to get the lead to come out. Wow I never thought I would ever explain that on this site.

Shaman - 6/12/2009, 1:01 PM
LOL It's cause i'm bilingual but my native tongue is french and we call those pencils "pousse-mine" which roughly translated means "push-lead". That's why i wasn't familiar with the term LOL :P

Triptheorist- You did that sketch above with a mechanical pencil??? DAMN, you smudge ALOT!!! I hate smudging, that's why you always see the lines in my shading LOL :P

LEEE777- Thanks dude, but you haven't seen all of these already??? Here's the link to my Galeries:

Shaman--Dude you can't do something that looks like that with a mechanical pencil. He'd have to have like an 8B lead and that would be too soft to put in a mechanical pencil.

If it is mechanical pencil, it is highly touched up with photoshop, darkened and then maybe a single filter on top and presto. I wouldn't be surprised if it just a photo from a victoria secret catalogue that has been photoshoped.

Triptheorist - 6/12/2009, 3:21 PM
It is a mechanical pencil. It is softened with photoshop, but it's mostly alot of smudging by hand. Let's just say it took me a long time. It's even from a victoria's secret catalogue. I used the magazine as a reference to draw the model by hand... plagiarism is a serious accusation. I can draw, there's about 4 drawings in the forum to back it up; http://www.comicbookmovie.com/forum/?ft=39435

I didnt mean to sound like I was attacking. I have never seen a drawing with a mechanical pencil that is so dark so I was like, "No way!"

I would suggest using a piece of charcoal for all of your darkest areas. It'll spread alot faster, saving you time and give you nice gradients. Then when you're done, spray it with hairspray from a foot away. That way it'll hold all those particles and wont fade or come off on your clothes so easy.

@Betty@ this is a picture I drew with a mechanical pencil (one of my own characters btw) and this one hasn't had a photoshop adjustment to it yet, how dark the pencil actually shows up depends on how good your scanner really is.

@Betty Sorry man, i just get a little touchy about that stuff... it's like defcon 4. Yeah, Charcoal is just waaaay to messy, even though I am a fan of the medium.
