A Quiet Place meets The Happening?

Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming post-apocalyptic horror flick, Bird Box. This adaptation of Josh Malerman's novel stars Sandra Bullock as a woman who must face a mysterious global terror with her two young children... while blindfolded!

We're not sure exactly why, but the teaser does mention some kind of entity that takes the form of a person's worst fears, so it's a safe bet that has something to do with it.

The movie is directed by Academy Award winner Susanne Bier, and also stars John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson, and Trevante Rhodes. Check out the trailer and a poster below and let us know what you think.

Reminds me of the true story of when a blindfolded Peter La Fleur beat White Goodman in sudden death to give the Average Joe's the win over Globo Gym.

The catch is that you must also watch the whole movie blindfolded. Blindfold not included.

@gulducati - After reading the novel Blindness, I'm convinced the movie version could have been great if it was just a black screen the whole time.

Ripping off A Quiet Place, but it looks decent. Next apocalypse we'll have monsters that attack through smell, and everyone will have to keep their noses plugged to survive.

@rabid - Then the big cross over film where the monsters find themselves united against a common threat. To fight the surviving humans no single monster could withstand.... On that day, The 5 senses were born

@rabid - It's based off a novel that came out before A Quiet Place. The novel is great, one of the best horror novels I've ever read. There were two spots I actually got goosebumps. Whereas A Quiet Place was about suspense and action, Bird Box is disturbing, tense and chilling.

“Eyes are a window to the soul” so that explains the entity(s) take form of ones worst fears and Sandra and others are blindfolded. I’ll check this out, Netflix is getting better at producing original films so it should be good.
