“Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors” is often referred by fans as the best of the nightmare sequels. With Wes Craven returning to write the screen play and Heather Langenkamp returning as Nancy all signs point to yes. Nightmare 3 is much better then Nightmare 2.

The plot surrounds around teenagers in a mental institution who have been having dreams about a man named Freddy who is terrorizing them. Nancy Thompson now a new staff member of the institution helps the kids by helping them figure out what their dream power is so that they can all defeat Freddy.

The actors both young and old portray their characters well. It’s good to see Langenkamp and Saxon back. Of course lets not forget Robert Englund as Freddy himself! Englund excels as Freddy growing from creepy mad man to more of an evil genius. Cracking a few smart alec lines and killing his victims swiftly afterwards will come to be something fans will enjoy in the sequels. Nightmare 3 also introduces the famous line “Welcome to prime time bitch.”

I like that they return Freddy to his original gig, killing teens in their dreams. Also the writers come up with the idea that each person has their own special power in their dreams. Like super strength, gymnastics, wizardry, and even biker chick. A particular power will become more prominent in the sequels.

Of course the kills in this film are not a laughing matter. The one that looks the most painful would have to be the puppet one. It just looks down right real. Which brings me to the special effects. The special effects improve yet again in this film. From the animated puppet, to the dream world itself. The film makers do this all without CGI and do it well.

Although this film isn’t necessarily scary, it will still make you cringe at parts and some times even laugh. Without a doubt the best sequel of the Nightmare franchise.

I give “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors” a B+

The movie that started turning Freddy into a comedian. Good flick, but I still wish they hadn't [SPOILER ALERT] killed off Nancy.

The junk yard scene used to give me nightmares, where the dog pees and Freddy's guts and skin ooze back onto his bones. One of my faves.
