Stan Lee Weighs in On ABC's Live-Action Incredible Hulk TV Series

Creator of the green Goliath, and many other Marvel properties, Stan Lee thinks ABC's greenlite live-action "Hulk" series has great potential. Check it out to know why.

News is swirling as Marvel Studios & ABC's recently gave a live-action Incredible Hulk series the greenlight. And while the latest rumor list Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro as it's pitcher, NY Daily News caught up with the Goliath's creator, Stan lee, where he shares his thoughts on the project.

"Actually, I think the potential for a successful Hulk TV show is greater now than ever. For one thing, think of the sensational special effects available to us now, plus the fact that ol' green skin is known and loved world-wide. Factor in a cameo by me and how can it miss?"

I have many reasons to believe & hope this series, and the other tentative small screen adaptions, will fall into the Marvel Cinematic Universe currently seen in the Iron Man franchise. While they may not have as many references as the films, fortunately, it only seems right for a "Hulk" series to coincide with the universe of the monster's next appearance in The Avengers movie. Yes, that means I do think Mark Ruffalo should portray Hulk's better half Bruce Banner, in the series as well as the films. What did you think?

All this means is we're not gonna be getting an INCREDIBLE HULK II and yet another BANNER, tho from what I've heard RUFFALO is good for TV! : P

Seriously though... how can HULK look good on the small screen without looking shitty?!?

Do a [frick]ing PUNISHER ffs, he'd own on TV!

they should do a Punisher Tv series cause its not working on film most likely it work as a tv show. Punisher could end up like a classic tv show like The Equalizer ;)

i hope he fights a classic foe from the comics each week.

@ project rebirth

your comment about 3 guys playing the same charactor over the last ten years,i can't see it confusing anyone.

i.e batman(1989)michael keaton,batman forever(1995)val kilmer & batman & robin(1997)george clooney.

i didn't see anyone complaining about that.

they just except it.

Bring it on. I want to see the Hulk, and if a TV show is how I will see it, so be it.

Don't bring the big screen movies down to the small screen. Make the Hulk TV show nothing to do with the movies. Because if the show fails, and get canned then what are they gonna do with the movies?

DLM - 10/15/2010, 3:17 PM
Hopefully they'll do this the right way and have the show set his character up for the movies. Do a 13 episode mini series. That way they may be able to get Ruffalo involved, as its not as much of a commitment and he can still do other projects as well. Set season 1 between TIH and The Avengers. Then season 2 between the Avengers and TIH2.

ABC seems to be experimenting with higher budget TV and I'm sure Marvel TV is all for spending a lot more than the usual T.V budget for this to be a success. Could film all the episodes at once and have 12 episode seasons, this could work out very well.

I'm hoping it does, T.V is so weak right now ABC and Marvels partner ship could change that big time, for more than just us nerds.

Oh Boy, I just thought of something...

See, I know that movie rights and TV rights are two different things. For Example, Fox has Movie rights to X-men, but not the TV rights. Sony has Spiderman movie rights, not the TV rights. You get the idea.

Do you guys see where this can lead?

If they (Marvel/Disney) decide to put to make a Spider-man TV show for example, they could (on TV only though) have him run across the Hulk (who is both movie/tv, if they wanted to and decided that TV Hulk is the same as the movie Hulk)

Or have TV Wolverine fight the Hulk in Canada (again, only on TV).

Hell, you could still do cross-overs, just on the small screen. Just whenever it goes to the big screen, your back to your original limitations of what is owned movie-wise by whoem.

At the very least...some interesting "made for TV" movie potential here.

Tymminator@ I think it's not a case of T.V. vs film rights as it is, live action vs animation. I believe Fox sued over the Mutant X series that came out. Which would lead me to believe they own the live action rights to the characters.

Really Deadpool? You NEVER heard anybody complain about George Clooney and Michael Keaton as Batman. REALLY?

I agree completely with LEEE, big [frick]ing no to a Hulk series with a potential shitty looking CGI Hulk, big [frick]ing yes to a Punisher TV series which will not need any CGI and it will portray the Punisher better than any movie has or will ever portray the character

FFS, Stan you always need them bloody cameos, I was playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 the other day for the first time, and Stan pops up in it as a [frick]ing senator for New York complete with [frick]ing Excelsior. Goddamn it Stan, you are so awesome, its annoying

and that pic is awesome, Stan and Lou are complete legends!
Tymminator
Tymminator - 10/15/2010, 6:52 PM
@DLM,

You know, I remember that. Fox sued Marvel over that and then Marvel counter-sued. I think Marvel still won more or less, but they had to change a few things to make the judge happy.

At any ate, yeah, the live action idea I had has more or less flown the coup. :(

With a t.v. budget the cgi for hulk
is more than likely gonna look like
crap!!! Heroes for Hire or Punisher
would've been much easier to do, but
were the fans what do we know?

First of all it better be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have direct ties with Ed Norton's The Incredible Hulk.

But id much rather watch Heroes For Hire/Alter Ego/Daughters of Dragon, Punisher, Moon Knight, and even The Hood

I dont want Eternals tv show
Suzanne
Suzanne - 10/16/2010, 10:51 AM
So wait there was a Galactus TV Show?

I think this can work depending on how they handle the Hulk and what network it is on.

The show has to be on ABC Family and the Hulk needs to be CGI. On cable they do less episodes so they would have more money to spend on CGI then they would on ABC.

there is not one abc show that I like. unfortunately Disney owns abc (i think) so any marvel comic adaptation will always be on abc.

They need to make like an abc2 for adults and not intended for the family.

I'm not sold on this idea. I bet they cast another actor as banner there's no way Ruff will want to do this series. He's an indie actor to boot.

Actually ABC has a superhero show they debuted a month ago and they picked up Cloak and Dagger for ABC Family. They have done alot of Sci Fi shows between ABC and ABC Family the last few years.

Ya but No Ordinary Family has some bad writing...I'm not sure why I am still tuning in...maybe because I miss Julie Benz on Dexter...but then this has been the roughest season thus far for the serial killer killin serial killer....

Could be interesting. I think it would be neat to see Leterrier direct a 2-Hour pilot.
