Hurd Hints at Hulk's Future--and Norton's

Super producer Gale Anne Hurd says "she has every intention on making a follow-up and that Edward Norton is signed on."

In an interview with MTV, Ms. Hurd stated:

"It's all going to depend on the screenplay and where his character goes in any sequel, because he does have a multiple-picture deal," she said of Norton, who told us recently that he's waiting to hear from Marvel regarding Hulk's future. "[Norton's situation] is the same with every franchise like this, when you have one of the top actors of his generation."

But first, you're likely going to see him in The Avengers:

"Next, he's likely to appear in an 'Avengers' movie, but that's completely up to Marvel," she explained. "It's wonderful that Marvel now controls so many of their own characters, and they can create a Marvel universe in film and populate it with so many of their characters who naturally exist together. I think an 'Avengers' film is a very exciting prospect."

She also confirmed which villain may be headlining in Hulk 2:

"The Leader," she said when asked what Nelson was transforming into when last we saw him. "It would be a blast [to put the Leader in the sequel], and Tim Blake Nelson is tremendous and a very talented filmmaker in his own right."

"When I think of all the many, many, many villains in the Hulk universe, we've now done the Abomination, so wouldn't it be great to tackle the Leader?" she beamed. "It's a completely different type of cerebral villain, which would give the movie a terrific new take on the character."

I hope the next Hulk goes into more into the rage that makes Hulk and who/what Hulk is exactly and delve into that side of Banners psyche - all that "Hulk Smash!" stuff is great and all but it means nothing unless there's some thought behind it.

Any villain would be great if written correctly. I don’t see the problem with Edward Norton, I actually like how he acts, I loved him in several movies (especially in Primal Fear) and I think he did a great job in Hulk. It would be good to see another Hulk before Avengers but nothing rushed. As much as I can’t wait for the Avengers movie to play, I kind of wish they would take their time preparing to it. Remember the Onslaught event? I would like the movies to take that direction, not only do one movie to introduce characters, but at least two movies (introduction and development) and throughout those movies make little subtle suggestions that a major plot is in the horizon until it all comes together Onslaught style. I don’t know… That’s how I would do it... Just an opinion…

I see a major problem with marvel shooting there own franchises in the foot. Like with "Incredible Hulk" They get so eager to please fans they forget to just stay true to the original story and the meaning behind it.

Which ever movie they do first i'm excited about both. I thought the Incredible Hulk was almost as good as Iron Man and the total lack of the Absorbing-Nolte or anything even related to Ang Lee's piece of crap made me very happy. I loved the references to the old TV show, it was my favorite as a kid.

They are just about to finish the hulk vs wolverine animated movie, i think if marvel could strike some kinda deal with fox and jackman, to have wolverine guest star at the very beginning of the avengers movie to be sent to capture the hulk in canada, i realise wolverine isnt in the avengers, but just a cameo or a mention that sheild recruited him to bring the hulk in would be a great bonus for the fans. the ending of the incredible hulk sets this up perfectly ending the movie in canada, plus i think itll be a great entrance for wolverine into the on-screen "connected MARVEL universe", and itll be staying true to the comics.

I think there should be another Hulk movie before the avenger movie. I think the next movie should have a villian as well as another hero involved. I think the story of She-Hulk and Doctor Doom would be very fun and interesting to see on the big screen. And who wouldn't like to see a female superhero in a movie for a change.
I think it would open more doors for female hero movies.
Just a thought.

It wouldn't surprise me if, between now and 2011, Marvel regains control of the X-characters and sticks Wolverine in Avengers. He _is_ in the current comic lineup for the team, and has been for some time, after all. I also have a feeling that, when Avengers rolls around, we'll be seeing something more in line with the Grey Hulk as the villain (even if he's still green), at least if I'm interpreting the ending of Incredible correctly.
