DEBUNKED: Gary Oldman NOT in Iron Man 2!

Gary Oldman's manager has denied claims that he was on the set of Iron Man 2 or that he will appear in the film!

After reports earlier this week stating that Gary Oldman had visited the set of Iron Man 2(due for release May 7, 2010), his manager has issued the following statement...

"Mr. Oldman did not visit the set of 'Iron Man' and there are currently no plans for him to appear in the film."

It was previously thought that Tim Robbins may portray Tony Stark's father, Howard Stark until he later denied this. Who Gary Oldman may have played is unclear and seemingly irrelevant now that "...there are currently no plans for him to appear in the film."

Gerard Sanders (right) portrayed Howard Stark during a slideshow introducing Tony Stark in Iron Man.

It seems unlikely that Oldman, who played Commissioner James Gordon in both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and is likely to reprise the role in the next Batman film, would star in both DC and MARVEL films without either company wanting some sort of exclusitivity. However, who do YOU think Gary Oldman could have played in Iron Man 2?

I think it would have been like Anthony Michael Hall in the dark knight, somthing small. I remember was like holy crap the brain from breakfast club is goin to be the riddler but ends up a newscaster. I think that be somthing like that so we could go "oh hey its Gordon...cool"

Why not get James Caan to be Tony's dad? I thought that's who it was when I saw the movie in theaters. As for Oldman, he's one of the greatest actors of our era, and would make due in ANY movie/role. Doesn't matter if HE fits in he universe, he would take whatever role was given and MAKE it work.

For once Grif I must agree with you. As good as RDJ and Don are I have to say Gary is a cut above, but that's because he's a cut above just about everyone! The guy doesn't go for big "in your face roles" but he is so convincing in everything and an amazing talent.
