Jackson "Actionless" in Iron Man 2

The ever yelling, always seemingly upset Samuel L. Jackson lets us in on what we can expect from Nick Fury in Iron Man 2.

What seems like a long time ago in a year not so far away we got our first glimpse of Samuel L. Jackson all decked out in S.H.I.E.L.D. gear representing Nick Fury on the set of Iron Man 2.

Sam looked pretty bad ass or as bad ass as you can look while talking. We all know Samuel L. Jackson doesn't like to do much talking in fact he's more of a yeller. But that's what makes Mr. Jackson who he is.

Check this MTV interview out regarding Nick Fury's action status for Iron Man 2.

“Not this time, not yet,” Jackson told MTV News of kicking some ass in “Iron Man 2.” “We still haven’t moved Nick Fury into the bad-ass zone. He’s still just kind of a talker.”

yeah, Fury in the 616 universe is one of my favorite characters, if only because he cracks me the hell up. i wish they would have used that one, the Ultimate Universe just isn't cool to me and was totally not needed when it was created.

THE COMIC GEEKS DREAMCHOICE TO PLAY A CHARACTER THAT WAS MODEL AFTER HIM...EVEN THOUGH THE ORIGINAL WAS WHITE, FOR SOME REASON THE ULTIMATES VERSION JUST SEEMS MORE "BAD ASS" TO ME...
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/1/2009, 8:21 AM
yeah, i agree, but if you read garth ennis' run on the punisher, fury is comedy gold in that. i believe it's the Mother Russia story. So funny...

BRUCE WILLIS would've made the best FURY! ; )

But im over ULTIMATE NICK, to me he's just a guy using the WAR Hero's name!!! Bit like 007! ; D

S.H.I.E.L.D gear looks like S.H.A.F.T gear lol! : D

Still, great pic JMAN!

CorndogBuglar @ You are so right!

leee7777 bruce would be better. i think the original nick fury is more badass and deserved to be in this movie. but since they are gonna go the ultimate route they needed an unltimate fury.

Superdog @ Yeah, problem is they ain't making THE ULTIMATES an i'll never see him as the one an only true FURY! Still i really hope SLJ changes his acting for this, i really do! Most of his acting roles feel like the same character lol!

Pity all the ULTIMATE WORLD is getting shot to sh!t in the comics! : D

Still, cant wait for AVENGERS!!!

i cant wait either. and your right about slj acting. i think he is a good actor but just cause he looks the part doesnt mean he can act it. i think they chose him for the "cool" factor and not for the acting.

I like Ultimate Fury he does seem more bad ass to me too, maybe it's just because he was based on Sam Jackson and his presence even in comic form is bad ass.

One of the funniest things I've heard Samuel L. Jackson say was something to the effect of "When I was a kid reading comic books Nick Fury was a white man. So, that just shows ya' kids, maybe one day you can grow up to be black."
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/1/2009, 9:39 AM
I haven't read much of the Ultimates, I've read volumes one and two. not really my cup of tea, but Fury didn't really do anything in those...except talk. Fury in 616 is defenately a bad ass.

I am a Sam jack fan....
I mean he is sort of the same character all the time...

I like him as Gator in Jungle Fever, and in Pulp Fiction....

But he had the most character in Revenge of the Sith... Well Obi one did also...
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 7/1/2009, 9:46 AM
@ vonstallin

yeah i agree, he did have the most character in revenge of the sith, too bad the movie was awful regardless lol

I think that Jackson will do a great job (just the few lines he had in Iron Man gave me goosebumps, lol!) but until we see him in Iron Man 2 we dont know whether he could be EXACTLY like the regular Nick Fury! Just because he looks like the Ultimate version doesnt mean his character will be like him.

It is interesting to wonder how different these movie would be if the Ultimates had never been created though...!
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 7/1/2009, 10:34 AM
Yeah JOSH @ We know! : D

Oh an the ULTIMATES was created for the movies, why do you think they made ULTIMATE FURY in his image!

; D

JoshWilding - 7/1/2009, 10:55 AM
LEE: it was actually Mark Millar who contacted Jackson for permission to use his image as well as other celebs like Shannon Elizabeth and Freddie Prinze so The Ultimates were'nt actually created for the movies its just that Marvel have now chosen to use Jackson in their movies (which makes sense as Jackson has said in the past he's a huge Avengers fan and a lot of comic book readers had already seen him as Fury in The Ultimates so would probably react well to him in the movies)
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 7/1/2009, 11:08 AM
I told you JOSH, Using ULTIMATE FURY is a cop out! Lazy casting for such a great character!

An keep telling yourself that about Miller, Ultimates are ruining the movies! Still its gonna be good but it should be Awesome!!!
superdog
superdog - 7/1/2009, 11:09 AM
so does that mean freddie prinze jr. will be captain america? sweet!!!!!
Cheesey1
Cheesey1 - 7/1/2009, 11:12 AM
I agree, I think he was picked simply 'cause it was an easier casting decision and helped with audience recognition. Yeah they're using some Ultimates elements, but I definitely feel that the Marvel produced films, at their heart, are more 616 than Ultimate.
NerdGirl
NerdGirl - 7/1/2009, 11:16 AM
Well of course Jackson will be amazing for the part, he sold his likeness just for the character. Get Hoff out of this!!
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 7/1/2009, 11:24 AM
oh, i agree that it was definitely the easy option and something interesting for jackson to talk about in the interviews, lol! And LEE, it WAS Miller who made the decision-it says in the back of The Ultimates hardcover in a commentary by him and Hitch. I really dont think that the fact that Nick Fury is black instead of white like the classic version, will affect how good the film is-thats just stupid! Its like if they make The Wasp asian like she was in The Ultimates rather than white-what difference will it REALLY make!?!
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 7/1/2009, 11:27 AM
Its not about RACE JOSH @ Don't bring that card up, geez lol!

ULTIMATE UNIVERSE = ULTIMATES

MARVEL CLASSIC UNIVERSE = AVENGERS

DC UNIVERSE = JLA!!! ; )

I know, lets have THE WATCHTOWER while we're at it as THE AVENGERS HQ! An SPAWN in the AVENGERS line up! An hey why don't we have the CAP from MARVEL ZOMBIES as CAP aswell! ; D
superdog
superdog - 7/1/2009, 11:30 AM
freddie prinze jr for captain america

LEEE777 - 7/1/2009, 11:30 AM
Lol Superdog!!! ; D
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 7/1/2009, 11:38 AM
LEE: it kinda is about race because thats the fundamental difference between 616 Fury and Ultimate Fury! I would understand the complaints if they had cast someone like Tom Welling as Nick Fury (who couldnt be any different type of person than Fury obviouly) but Jackson is basically 616 Nick Fury but with a different skin colour! To me, that wont affect how good the film is!
THEHAWK
THEHAWK - 7/1/2009, 11:43 AM
I like Sam Jackson, but i would have prefered it if they had modled him after someone like Clint Eastwood, or Denzel Washington, now I wolud have liked to see him in a Marvel movie!
THEHAWK
THEHAWK - 7/1/2009, 11:44 AM
I mena Ultimate Nick is still bad ass, but thats just my opinion.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 7/1/2009, 12:06 PM
THEHAWK: yeah, a slightly younger Clint Eastwood would have nailed the role of Nick Fury!

Still, if they ever wanted to change the actor for a solo Fury film then they could easily just say that the Jackson Fury was an L.M.D (Life Model Decoy)!
