When Iron Man rolled into theaters on May 2, 2008, did you ever think the Marvel Cinematic Universe would reach a day when the likes of Miss America, Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), She-Hulk and Shang-Chi were set to debut and likely become household names? Probably not.
However, just as the MCU is riding an all-time high with Avengers: Endgame dethroning Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all-time, Robert Downey Jr. thinks it's the best time for himself and Captain America actor Chris Evans to depart.
During an interview with the D23 Expo magazine, Downey Jr. stated, "We had to get off. We opted to, and knew it was part of the job to get off the bus while it rolled on to other destinations. There's something very sobering about it."
He also seemed to hint that other veteran MCU actors will soon be departing, as he joked that he and Evans would be there to welcome them into the MCU Hall of Fame, figuratively speaking. "I'm glad he and I will be there to welcome others as they retire their jerseys."
An MCU Hall of Fame where actors get their costumes retired and a commemorative bust actually sounds like an awesome Disneyland attraction.
