Stan Lee Picks The Marvel Hero He'd Like To Be And Praises The Marvel Films Of Today

Out of all the Marvel heroes that were created by Stan Lee, which one would he like to be most? Spider-Man? Hulk? Daredevil? Plus, the legendary comic book writer shares his thoughts on the current flux of Marvel adaptations.

Stan Lee ran into CNN reporters at Thursday's Iron Man marathon at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood that he would love to be Iron Man.

Stan Lee: "I think I'd want to be Tony Stark because he's the best-looking and the richest![...]When I was writing these stories, the one thought in my mind was I hoped the books would sell so that I could keep my job and be able to pay the rent," he said. "I never thought there'd be a day when I'd be interviewed by the press and there would be exhibits of the characters. It never entered my mind."

As far as adaptations of the beloved characters Stan created in the 60's, Stan went on to say, "The movies have these great special effects; there's nothing they can't do. You couldn't have done 'Spider-Man' 20 years ago - there's no way you could have had him swinging on his webs that way," Lee said. "You couldn't have done 'Iron Man' this way 20 years ago. But now anything you can imagine, no matter how wild it is, you can put on the screen."

@thatcoldblackcloud Envy is a bad thing huh? you would like to be 90 years old and stille being surrounded by hot chicks, no way, no place in the world, no planet in the universe, where Stan Lee wouldn't be considered AWESOME.

He's just a living(thank god for that) legend

He plagied? who cares, everyone did at that time, what matter is that he brought souls into those characters, and no one can deny it, he totally made the comic book history!

RDJ made Iron Man popular...Spidey-DD-Wolverine are the most famous Marvel characters, and yeah,Marvel are trying to promote Iron Man very [frick]ing much....cause of the movies.....if they had SpiderMan rights,he woul've been their most valuable character....but they dont,so stick with shell head.!

Wasn't there an Iron Man film planned like 20 years ago? Would have been interesting to see how that would have panned out, considering the concept of Iron Man would rely on a lot of special effects.

I was expecting him to say Spider-Man, he's always throwing out that web-shooting pose! Imagine a world where the technology to build an Iron Man suit exists, and the only person to own the suit is Stan Lee, just flying around and shouting out his various catchphrases.

@Levi: Would have to disagree. Tony Stark is as cool (or more than) the Iron Man suit. I want his workshop, his intelligence. He is cool in my mind as anyone hero.

After seeing Iron Man 3 I'd say that I'd probably want to be Iron Man now too. I must say Marvel really does their films well. Even the weaker editions to the franchise (Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2) have been pretty good.

I've read marvel comics since the sixties and iron man was somewhat of a secon tier character but he was always a fun read. So it's good to see him as top tier now

You have to respect Iron Man, because he is really a self made hero that can stand toe to toe with almost anyone, just with what he has built. I'd rather be Hulk or Spiderman for Marvel characters.

Yeah Stan's clearly cracked. Who'd in their right mind would want to be a smooth billionaire genius with a cool workshop, girls hanging off the arm and plenty of alcohol in the fridge? Totally lame.
