The Mandarin: A List of Theories to How He Can/Can’t Appear in Sequels

I have read many theories (and came up with my own) to how the Mandarin will appear in future MCU movies if he does at all. I have made a list of all the reasonable explanations. I believe any of these can work, and I’ll accept any of them (Somewhat). MAJOR SPOILERS...

SPOILERS!!!

With the Mandarin/Trevor Slattery now in prison, there are many ways to how Mandarin will be involved in future MCU movies. I made a list of all theories I have either read, or come up with myself. Let’s take a look………

- The Mandarin won’t be mentioned, or the Ten Rings, or Trevor Slattery, or Aldrich Killian, or Extremis, or any main villain from Iron Man 3 (like how Whiplash was never mentioned outside of Iron Man 2 for example).
- The Mandarin (or Ten Rings, Trevor Slattery etc.) will be mentioned but won’t be involved in any form other than that.
- He (Trevor or Killian) will be briefly shown (Like a picture or on the News, similar to a picture of Jane appearing on a monitor on the helicarrier in Avengers).
- The real Mandarin is yet to be revealed.
- The real Mandarin is Aldrich Killian.
- The real Mandarin is/will be Trevor Slattery.
- The real Mandarin is Dr. Wu.
- The real Mandarin is the ghost of Yinsen.
-There is no Mandarin.
- The Other breaks Trevor out of Jail (or waits until he gets out himself) and gives him the ten rings. Trevor accepts them and becomes the real Mandarin.
- The Actor is an Actor. The Mandarin pretended to be Trevor. He saw Tony coming so he became Trevor so the authorities will go easier on him. The real Mandarin would get killed, or locked up in S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters. They would go easier on Trevor mainly because he wasn’t aware of what was happening. He breaks out of jail (or gets out without breaking out) and returns so he can “kill more people”.
- Same theory as last one, but forms Masters of Evil rather than just simply rejoining with the ten rings (these can happen with either using the magical rings or not).
- Fin Fang Foom/The Other revives Aldrich Killian who either 1. Joins/forms the MOE… 2. Becomes the same character he was in Iron Man 3… or 3. Dresses and looks differently, and become the Mandarin…
- Trevor Slattery gets revenge on the police by becoming the real Mandarin.
- Trevor Slattery thinks he is the Mandarin because of too many drugs……… Yeah so he kills people.
- Aldrich Killian didn’t die. He becomes the Mandarin.
- Aldrich Killian’s life model decoy becomes the Mandarin.
- Trevor Slattery stars in a movie as a character named Mandarin.
- The Ten Rings hire Trevor Slattery to “pretend” to be the Mandarin again, and he falls for it.
- The real Mandarin steps out of the shadows and starts/joins MOE, or terrorizes as the Ten Rings leader.
- The Real Mandarin injects himself with extremis.
- Trevor Slattery injects himself with extremis.
- The Real Mandarin puts on an armour suit.
- Trevor Slattery puts on an armour suit.
- Aldrich Killian didn’t die, he becomes the Mandarin.
- Trevor Slattery becomes more serious because the police cut off his supply of drugs. He gets revenge by becoming the Mandarin.
- The real Mandarin steps out of the shadows… only to retire and let Trevor Slattery become the Mandarin.

Which of these would you like to happen in Avengers 2/Future MCU Movie???

I remember that Trevor stated that when they hired him they gave him things.Like money, women, stuff like that but something stood out he mentioned plastic surgery and I started to think why would one need plastic surgery if you created the Mandarin from scratch? So what if he was made to look like the real Mandarin.

To me. all in all, The Mandarin never existed, like Killian said, he created the persona of The Mandarin to give a face to his own terrorist actions. The mandarin was just a name, he was never a real person.

@unknownfacts

I noticed that as well, my theory is Killian had Slattery get plastic surgery to never be recognized as John Slattery anymore, his face now is that of The Mandarin.

So if ever Slattery got caught and tried to convince authorities he really is John Slattery and Killian is behind it all, no one would believe him since the world now knows his face as The Mandarin.

Cuz these days, C'mon, Who's ever really gonna take the word of a terrorist? :]

@Bane5000

Can't remember if he said it (I'm pretty sure he did because he mentioned giving lessons), but I know he didn't say "Do you want an empty life or a meaningful death?"...

This is closest to my theory but Trevor wasn't The Mandarin he was imitating a character that was never seen in the movie.
