According to the ever reliable Film Music Reporter, Marvel Studios and director Shane Black have finally chosen who'll compose the musical arrangement for next year's much-anticipated third Iron Man installment. While Ramin Djawadi tackled the score for the original Jon Favreau-directed movie, and John Debney scored the 2010 sequel, composer and conductor Brian Tyler has been hired for Iron Man 3, the site reveals.

Brian Tyler has scored a number of big blockbusters including Eagle Eye, The Expendables, Battle: Los Angeles, The Final Destination, Rambo, Fast Five, and the recently released sequel, The Expendables 2. And he also worked on big video game titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Transformers: Prime, and Need for Speed. What do you think?

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Dale Dickey, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

Marvel's cheap even with scores, when they're gonna hire somebody as good as Ramin Djawadi for their movies again? After TIH, their scores went to shit. Shame on Marvel.

I hate him, so I'm not happy at all. Ramin Djawadi was the best. Or at least keep John Debney.

Ramin Djawadi? seriously? the score for the first Iron Man was so awful. Silvestri's scores for Captain America and Avengers were top notch.

@Owley, I think only the main theme of the movie was good, rest was forgettable, can't believe it was the same guy who did the score for BTTF.

@LucasMend

Yeah, Marvel are some pretty cheap [frick]ers. I heard somewhere that Scarlet Johansson only got hired for the Widow because she was the only one in consideration willing to work with a laughably tiny pay.

Seems legit. Why else would they hire someone who is an absolute misfit for the role?

They should get Michael Giacchino to score one of these movies.

Awesome choice.

the only good songs from the first Iron Man were "Driving with the Top Down", and "Merchant of Death". i was pretty dissapointed with Djawadi's score on that. but Brian Tyler has been consistently good on his scores, even if the movies sucked.

I thought Debney's score was far more cliched and forgettable than Djawadi's.

The score for the first film was refreshing, because it was almost rock music, and that felt appropriate for the Iron Man character. The second score was just generic "up-up-and-away!" music.

@Charlie2094

The Children of Dune score was impressive for television. Tyler also did a nice job of fusing his new material for Rambo 4 with Goldsmith's best themes from the first First Blood as well. This guy will be better to have on board than Debney.

@santoanderson

I agree. Despite the first films score being minimal(sharing screen time with needledrops), I felt the theme used whilst Stark is making the armor in the cave was great and should have been kept throughout all the films.

In my opinion, Ramin Djwadi was the best of the Iron Man films and the Marvel Studios films. The Avengers score by Alan Silvestri comes second. I hated the Iron Man 2 soundtrack. It was super cliche' and cheesy. I only liked about two tracks from it. I don't know anything about Brian Tyler, so I will have to wait and see. I saw Expendables 2, I don't remember the score very well, but I remember it was alright. So, I don't know what to expect.

Always loved Brian Tyler's work. His score for Dragonball: Evolution was the best part of that film (though givenhow bad the rest of the movie was, that's not a high bar). And his music on Final Destination 4 and 5 was awesome and terrifying. The electric sound that he brings to his scores is terrific.
