JOKER On Track For Record-Breaking $82M+ Opening Weekend As More New Posters Are Released

Although it's expected to come in slightly under early tracking predictions, Todd Philips' Joker movie still looks set to break opening weekend records for October when it hits theaters next month...

Last week's early tracking projections indicated that Joker could make as much as $90 million domestically when it hits theaters next month, but the updated box office forecasts suggest a slightly lower opening.

Right now, Todd Philips' controversial origin story for the iconic DC villain is pacing for a domestic debut of between $82 million and $87M over the Oct. 4-6 weekend. This would still give the R-rated release the opening weekend record for the month of October, beating Sony Pictures' Venom ($80.2M).

In related news, Rotten Tomatoes has debuted another couple of officially commissioned posters for the film, featuring Joaquin Phoenix's deranged Arthur Fleck melting into his Clown Prince of Crime Persona.

Joker hits theaters on October 2. Will you guys be there opening weekend?

@thewanderer

Why do you think that?

@regularmovieguy - the public buzz just isn't there. We all know about the movie, but the average moviegoer doesn't. Take for example, my office this week, a bunch of middle aged women were talking about the new rambo movie, but none of them knew about the Joker movie.

I know we're still two weeks out, but there's been very little marketing for this movie. I've seen maybe two commercials to this point.

I think it will draw decently well with the genre fans, but I'm not convinced this movie is going to draw in your casual movie fan.

These posters are breathtakingly stunning. Besides BOP, DC just knows how to make good posters.

For those who want to see it, I sincerely hope, from the bottom of my heart, that you get a masterpiece.

As for me, I will NEVER see this film. Never.

A Joker with no Batman. Like fresh-baked chcolate chip cookies with no cold milk.

No thank you.
