There's a lot of intrigue surrounding Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One, especially amid rumours that what we once believed to be a two-part adventure could now play out across three movies!

Warner Bros. Animation and DC haven't announced the voice cast, though a recent Amazon listing pointed to a January release. Alas, the DC Animated Universe's future is in doubt as DC Studios is planning a line-wide reboot across film, television, animation, and video games, meaning this may be it for direct-to-home video titles (which would be a real shame).

We're sure official news is coming, but in the meantime, Part One's cover has found its way online.

Unsurprisingly, given his penchant for travelling through time, The Flash is put front and centre. The Scarlet Speedster is surrounded by a multitude of Tomorrowverse heroes, including Batman, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, John Stewart Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. Some surprises come our way in the form of Ultraman, Superwoman, and a character who looks an awful lot like Robot Man.

There are no hints about Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One's big bad, while it doesn't currently appear as if there are plans for characters from past DCAU projects to appear (unless they're being saved as a surprise for an appearance in Part Two).

Take a look at the cover art in the Tweet/X below.

Crisis on Infinite Earths was a comic book crossover storyline published by DC Comics in the mid-1989s. The series, written by Marv Wolfman and pencilled by George Pérez, ran for 12 issues and stemmed from the former's desire to abandon the DC Multiverse.

Believing the concept had become overly complicated, the writer set out to create a single, unified DC Universe.

At the start of Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Anti-Monitor (the Monitor's evil counterpart) is unleashed on the DC Multiverse and begins to destroy the various Earths that it comprises. The Monitor tries to recruit heroes from around the Multiverse but is murdered, while Brainiac collaborates with the villains to conquer the remaining Earths.

However, both the heroes and villains are eventually united by the Spectre, and the series concludes with Kal-L, Superboy-Prime and Alexander Luthor Jr. defeating the Anti-Monitor with the creation of a single Earth in place of the Multiverse then following. Crisis on Infinite Earths is noted for its high death count; hundreds of characters died, including DC icons Kara Zor-El/Supergirl and Barry Allen/The Flash.

As a result, the DCU was, for a long time, broken down into the "pre" and "post" Crisis eras.

I’ll be looking for this. One thing that DC is good at is these animated movies. Sure there have been some bad ones but most are very entertaining.

Taht's no longer the case. They haven't been good at animation in way too long. You even said it yourself.

@CAPTAINPINKEYE - the flash point movie and the 2 part dark knight returns are legitimately good movies.

@videovac - I didn’t say what you wrote. Sure there’s been some bad ones but in a whole they are solid. I liked the last Batman one.

Just have a hard time feeling excited for this

While I enjoy the Tomorrowverse, it is way too underdeveloped for this to have any impact

We can see Ultraman and Superwoman on the cover, we havent even seen the Tomorrowverse versions of them

Can only guess thats Alexander Luthor jr in the back

Hell if they had done this with Bruce Timm, his cast and designs, throw in some of the elseworld movies done in his art style (Gotham by Gaslight and Red Son being 2) would be great. The DCAU was a fully developed version of DC. Could have had the Crime Syndicate role be filled by the Justice Lords or the Justice League Gods and Monsters version of the league.

Hell even the all over the place DCAMU would have been a better pick. That universe wasnt that developed, they barely touched on anytihing cosmic outside of darkseid (new gods never appeared) but it had more than the Tomorrowverse at this point

@dracula - so, after I read your book of a post I'm guessing you don't like the Tommorrowverse?
dracula
dracula - 11/12/2023, 6:58 PM
@lazlodaytona - i like the tomorrowverse for the mostly

But its isnt developed enough to be used as the focal point of crisis on infinite earths

This is like doing Crisis after flash season 1

@dracula - OK. I most definitely agree with you on that.

If we get cameos from other mainstream versions of the characters, (not adapting elseworlds)

Wonder if they will match the art styles of those versions

Like if Kevin Conroy shows up, cool but if its in the tomorrowverse style and not the dcau style, then its really not the dcau batman, considering Conroy has played batman in many different art styles

lazlodaytona - 11/12/2023, 6:46 PM
@dracula - uh....you know Conroy has passed away, right? He probably ain't showing up.

@lazlodaytona - you know these movies are recorded years in advance

Fun fact

Peyton list who played Poison Ivy in Gotham season 4 and 5 also played the role in Batman Hush

According to her she recorded her dialogue before ever being cast on Gotham.

Batman Hush came out after Gotham ended

@dracula - That's actually a pretty cool fact. Thanks for sharing!
I know people have bagged on Gotham a lot in the past here, but I overall enjoyed it. Yes, I hated the dude who played Bruce, but I thought the rest of the cast was great.
Especially Cameron Monaghan's take on the prototype Joker.

This is one of the best scenes of a Joker ever:

@bkmeijer1 - That is how I thought The Flash should have ended. That way the new DCEU would have a threat with stakes

bkmeijer1 - 11/12/2023, 5:14 PM
If they ever do Crisis in live-action, I kinda wanna see that movie open with Anti-Monitor decimating Pariah's universe, which happens to be the DCEU (so Cavill, Gadot, Mamoa, etc. fail to stop him).

As for this one, I kinda look forward to it. Didn't spent enough time with the Tomorrowverse to be invested enough, but if it's anywhere near Apokalips War I'll be satisfied.

I'm a DC guy all the way but I also support and enjoy Marvel films as well.

However, hasn't this time-travel story been done-to-death at the moment? I mean the Arrowverse did it, there was already the Flash animated "Flashpoint" (which I understand that isn't the same story), and the film the Flash dealt with time travel too.

Give it a rest for a while on Flash-related projects. Like u did after Renolds' Green Lantern, Slower build starting with Superman. TAKE YOUR TIME, PLEASE!

comicfan100 - 11/12/2023, 9:55 PM
@lazlodaytona - I don't know. I've always wanted to see an animated take on COIE. But maybe this was the wrong time to do that since the Multiverse is getting stale to a lot of people.

To me to the Tomorrowverse started off well with the first 3 films but then after Long Halloween part 2, I haven’t really enjoyed the rest of their films. They felt underdeveloped and poorly executed. Oh and Warworld…smh
Kadara
Kadara - 11/13/2023, 2:08 AM
@Arthorious - Arg Warworld was such a freaking let down, as someone who really enjoys DC animated movies, I was so annoyed. Also false advertising since it had nothing to do with Warworld except forced last five minutes.
Arthorious
Arthorious - 11/13/2023, 8:14 PM
@Kadara - exactly, I get they were trying to create a new concept, that war world was powered by the agony of capture individuals, but it completely missed the mark.

The Tomorrowverse is just as bad as the new 52verse. Another iconic DC arc ruined.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - at least the new52 had a few good movies. Well by my count 3: Death of Superman, Flashpoint, and Apokolips War.

If this is the last time the DCAU will exist then it's another major blow to different kind of DC content not being allowed to exist just because we now have to line-up behind the "canon" cinematic DCU Gunn and Safra are doing to fill Zaslav's pockets with money.

Will they also just axe the 2nd Season of My Adventures with Superman because Corensweat must be the one and only Superman in people's eyes just like how they've reasoned Superman & Lois must end? Screw that.

Cover looks nice and the best kind of surprise they can keep is reveal as a cliffhanger the help of other past DCAU iterations against the Anti-Monitor.

With a January release date, how can there be no voice cast yet that's nuts.
