JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder On The Biggest Challenge With Finishing His Cut Of The Movie

Justice League director Zack Snyder is being given an unprecedented opportunity to finish his version of the DC movie, and the filmmaker has now opened up on some of the pressures that come with that...

Studio interference is what led to Justice League becoming "Josstice League," and while there's not necessarily reason to believe Zack Snyder's version would have performed any better (critically or financially) than Joss Whedon's, it's hard to escape the feeling that Warner Bros. made a huge blunder.

Now, though, they're making things right by releasing Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max, and in a recent interview, the filmmaker opened up about the challenges that's presenting.

"I think really the big pressure on me is just for it [Justice League] to be exactly true to itself," he says. "And I know that sounds obvious but we as storytellers and as filmmakers a lot of times there's a lot of different powers that push and move and change what you're doing as you're doing it."

"But I think with this process and this project, it really is an amazing opportunity just to, and what I think the fans want, is just a very pure and exact version of the movie," Snyder concluded.

It's clear the filmmaker is taking this challenge seriously, and he's bound to be feeling the pressure somewhat, especially as he no doubt hopes to bring us a version of Justice League that's better than the one that arrived in theaters back in November 2017. Of course, the most important thing is ultimately for the director to deliver the vision he wanted to present to the world a few years back.

I can't wait for the #releasetheREALSnyderCut movement once this one turns out to be a dud as well as the original and fans still can't accept that the movie was just bad.

It seems they pretty much reshoot the whole thing now anyways...

I would think the biggest challenge is the no reshoots thing. I mean I get it with covid and the actors would have to get back in shape and everything but still fixing any issues with the film that would normally be fixed with reshoots but fixing them with ADR and CG is going to be a touch awkward in the movie.

Film industry so unfair. I’ve seen no-budget 5 minute shorts with more talent than this guy put into his movies, and those people will never get a dollar to see their talent realised. Meanwhile this guy gets millions of dollars after three shitty movies to tinker and play with the last one and take a movie that is considered, by general consensus, bad, and make it... what, less shitty to prove a point? Won’t improve BvS which is so much worse anyway. All because a few vocal wankers couldn’t accept a popcorn movie’s failure? What a waste dude. Don’t even know why I care since the movies were so crap but... its everywhere! Its all this site talks about!

[frick]ing shit movie, let it go. Hell Wonder Woman and Aquaman were the best this franchise could do and while they were fun, Marvelly movies, they were as forgettable as Marvelly movies are and totally unremarkable. Need more films like Joker in the genre..
