Is This Further Evidence That John Cleese Has Joined The DC Films Universe?

More interesting activity on social media has got people talking, and it once again seems to add weight to the theory that legendary British actor John Cleese has landed a role in the DC Films Universe...

Earlier this month, some eagle eyed Twitter users noticed that the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice UK account and DC Films Universe photographer Clay Enos had followed John Cleese on the social media website. As many of you pointed out at the time, that was pretty slim evidence that the actor had joined a big screen DC Comics franchise, but there's been an intriguing development.

The actor - who doesn't strike me as big comic book movie fan - has now followed both Justice League director Zack Snyder and The Batman helmer Ben Affleck. Could it be that he's playing a character who will appear in the former before taking on a larger role in the Caped Crusader's planned solo outing?

There's no way of knowing, but Cleese showing up in Justice League (even if it's just his voice) is now looking pretty likely. It's surprising that none of the trades have reported on this casting, but there's no guarantee he has actually joined the DC Films Universe. It appears as if we'll have to wait and see...

If they go the CGI route with Darkseid in Justice League, then they definitely need to get Michael Ironside as the voice.

It's kind of sad that one person following another on twitter, amounts to prospective casting news these days.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Well in the DCEU's case it has more merit as that's how some people managed to call casting and directing calls. In any other circumstance it would have been silly.

@Supafairy - even so, as it relates to casting news in general, I find it be odd and an unfortunate, almost tacky product of out social media crazed culture.

I'm a fan of more old school, arguably more professional means of announcing casting through a press release or at a convention. More weighty to me; more meaningful and finite than playing the guessing game of "he/she is following this person, what could it mean?"

@ComicsBornAndBred - It's just fans getting excited. Nothing wrong with that.

@ComicsBornAndBred - so true.

These Twitter announcements don't have nearly as much impact as say, a giant crowd cheering on Brie at comic con.

He's most likely Highfather.

My choice for Darkseid is Andre Braugher. He's voiced him before. His voice is so powerful and menacing that they didn't even need to alter it in post.

Oh, and here's my idea for Nightwing.

@Kr08 - Dude we had the same idea for Darkseid! XD
Can't agree on Nightwig tho, i watch Mr.Robot and i just can't picture him as Dick.
He's also pretty short.

@Doomsday8888 - I can't picture him as Dick either.

My pick for Nightwing:

Sam Claflin

Red Hood (IF they go that route)

Jack O'Connell
