Normally, the fact that the man who directed two Avengers movie is taking over Justice League would be big news, but Zack Snyder's decision to hand over the reigns to Joss Whedon is obviously surrounded in tragedy following the suicide of his 20-year-old daughter Autumn Snyder back in March.

It's sad that the director had to make this tragedy public because the news that Whedon is taking over would have probably led to cries that the movie is a disaster and that Snyder has been fired, but that's the way the internet works these days, so the fact he wanted to clarify things is understandable.

Since the news broke, a number of Snyder's colleagues including Geoff Johns, Patty Jenkins, Kevin Smith, and James Wan have taken to Twitter to pay their respects and weigh in on the news. So too have some other very well-known personalities, this time from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Feel free to leave your own tributes below and read more about what happened by clicking here.

@Highflyer - Yes, that drawing is beautiful! Caio Oliveira, a brazilian artist and friend of mine, is the artist. He's a harsh Snyder critic as a filmmaker, but he's deeply sad and touched by what happened.

That's how I feel too. Since yesterday, I'm almost crying because of this.

It's truly great that behind all the competitive rhethoric that the fanbase creates, there really is unity behind the division that is mostly allured towards us.

Always defended Snyder since day one, and always will. Dealing with this loss and having the guts to finish a product he is passionate about really takes huge courage. Blessing and prayers go to his family.

That's a great drawing, and it's nice to see so many people wishing him and his family the best regardless of whether or not they're fans of his work.

We all hurt for you.

Hits so many where we live.

In a medium that is an escape for us from the real world, this is a reminder it is real.

Nobody should ever go through something like this. It's heartbreaking and [frick]ed up beyond measure. I may not have liked his DC films so far but I am, without a doubt, rooting 100% for Justice League to be a success. The man deserves a break. I've hated on him in the past and I really feel bad especially because now, after this horrible, horrible tragedy, I realize just how trivial all these movies really are, DC or Marvel. Life is what matters in the end. I hope Mr. Zack Snyder and his family the very best and hope they can get through this difficult time.

I may not have known her or the Snyders personally, but I pray to God that Ms. Autumn Snyder rests in peace.

@MonsieurCringe - I'm far from Snyder's number 1 fan as a storyteller, but one thing that has never been in doubt in his devotion to the material and to the fans. I can't imagine soldering on with a massive project like this for three months after losing a child.

He already had my respect for how hard he works on these films, but he's redoubled it now.

A quote from Snyder. “I thought it would just be in the family, a private matter, our private sorrow that we would deal with. When it became obvious that I need to take break, I knew there would be narratives created on the internet. They’ll do what they do. The truth it…I’m past caring about that kind of thing now.”
No parent should see the birth and death of their child.
