Major SPOILERS ahead.
Zack Snyder has been teasing Martian Manhunter's debut in his director's cut of Justice League for quite a while, and now that ZSJL is finally here, HBO Max (via The Wrap and Tech Radar) has unveiled some official images of the movie's all CG-take on the DC Comics hero.
J’onn J’onzz features in two scenes. The first sees the shape-shifting alien pose as Martha Kent for a sit-down with Lois Lane, and he then returns right at the end of the movie to let Bruce Wayne know that he's willing to join the team.
To be honest, both appearances feel a little shoehorned in, and although Snyder maintains that introducing the last Martian was always his plan, The Wrap's report contradicts this.
Apparently, "[Harry] Lennix was never booked to film any scenes on the movie," and Snyder "came up with this idea to have Lennix [come in] at some point after Joss Whedon took over the film in May of 2017."
Whatever the case may be, the chances of seeing this particular incarnation of the character again seem slim.
What did you guys make of Martian Manhunter's inclusion in Zack Snyder's Justice League? Check out the stills below, and be sure to drop us a comment in the usual place.
In Zack Snyder's Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes.
Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.
