Kick Ass Sequel Already Has A Title

Comic writer Mark Millar spoke to comicbookrecources about Kick Ass..the comic, the movie, the making of books, and he gives some juicy info about the sequels..

While discussing the movie tie in book, Millar was asked about the sequel to the current comics run..

"Are you kidding me? Kick Ass is the most fun I’ve ever had ever on a project. It’s not only the best response Johnny [Romita Jr., the artist] and I have ever had, but we outsold everybody. Every issue had three, four, five printings. And our overall sales are more than 130,000 per issue. We always saw this as at least a trilogy. There might even be more. I had the whole second series worked out two years ago."

The working title is Balls to the Wall, and we’re thinking about launching it round about San Diego time, right around August. But to avoid delays, we’d like to stockpile a few issues, I think."

Cool. Since we know a sequel to the movie will be happening, its a fair bet the title will cross over.

Another interesting bit of trivia from the interview is that Nicholas Cage wasn't the first actor thought of for the part of Big Daddy. When he signed on, the filmmakers had already talked to both Mark Wahlberg and Daniel Craig about the role; and while Dave Lizewski may well have ended up the key character, initially, Millar was planning to tell the story from the point of view of Hit Girl and Big Daddy.

Here is some concept art from the making of book...

I like the idea of a mostly Hit Girl and Big Daddy film That's cool. Hopefully with someone else besides Nic Cage. I don't see Marky Mark doing the film or Daniel Craig.

My balls are always bouncing!

To the left and to the right.

It's my belief that my Big Balls should be held every night!

The working title is Balls to the Wall: Love it if it happens.. Mark W turned it down.. Max Payne, The Happening it would of made it his comeback.

kick ass was a great movie, I saw an advanced screening over the summer and let me tell you it was amazing. Unfortunately they are marketing this film all wrong. It looks like a kids film according to the trailers and the posters but they should be marketing this to more of a college crowd who likes violence. Because of the poor marketing I feel this film will not be successful enough for a sequel, which sucks cause it really was a kick ass movie.

Shouldn't they finish the first series before the movie comes out? Or at least before the second movie gets planed. Damn! It's taken 2 years for a 8 issue series to be drawn! BTW issue #8 is now scheduled for Jan. 20 2010. Issue 7 was Sept 10 and #6 was April 22. seriously? 3 books in 10 months, what are on the All-Star Batman and Robin schedule?

Kick-Ass was filmed on a tiny budget so they can make a sequal no problem if they can bring in at least 10 million. Since the movie is going international they will have enough money.
