Men in Black 3 Greenlighted - But is Will Smith Involved?

Sony announced yesterday that they are working on the third installment of the Men in Black series. Details are very limited right now, as Sony is interested in a screenwriter, but haven't hired him.

The project is in early development, and Sony has not confirmed if Will Smith will be involved with the movie. Men in Black 3 is scheduled for a summer of 2011 release. The summer of 2011 is stacked, with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Avengers, and Spider-Man 4 all coming out.

It wouldnt suprise me if they dont get TLJ but, have Will Smith be the veteran agent teaching a young smart mouthed rookie.

I agree. The 2nd one was really a huge cheese fest. To many gimmicks. Kinda like with the "remastered" Star Wars movies. "Let's just stick as much CGI in here and they'll eat it up!"

There is room for improvement, definitely, but like everyone has already said, as long as they don't pick someone too annoying. Will Smith can definitely play the once smart-ass, turned veteran teacher (with smart-ass undertones).

Oh, and also wetting myself at the idea of a new Ghostbuster's movie.

Yeah, I have a link for the recent Ghostbusters 3 news if anyone's interested:

And you're right, it looks like the new crew will serve as "protégés" to the original group of would-be ghost hunters.

9/11 really hurt the 2nd movie

I wonder what cool thing they have in the 3rd one Man I hope they don't go the way of the dark knight and make everyone gay

I heard that GB3 was going to be completely redone, a new story, new actors for the original part, and new script writers. I just hope they do not try the apprentices idea. It would be stupid. I just want them to do justice to the original. As for MIB3 it would be terrible without will smith.

@ adamant877

Very interesting article, it seems like they might have the rogen & rudd crew be the newbies. I love that group of guys' films and think their funny but idk if they're Ghost Bustin' material, I guess we will see. Maybe they will go with Ben Stiller as originally planned and maybe include some of his group of comedian friends: Jack Black, Owen & Luke Wilson ect.

I loved the first one, the second on was alright but don't make a third one. The only reason a third one is being made is because nobody in the movie industry can think of their own freakin ideas.

Oh sir prize...I think that would be a super pick.
Will can have just enuff seriousness and joke time to be a seasoned agent and Ryan will bring a fresh take on a new junior agent. They can even have them allready versed on the job vs. a intro type of situation.

My vote goes to Ryan FTW !!

Gigacrusher45 You do know almost every movie made today is taken from a other movie For example the Dark Knight was basically a Ripoff of Golden eye

Rorschach01-

i agree dude! as far as i knew the video game coming out june 16 was supposed to replace the actual movie. But the talk of GB3 filming later this year gets me hot!- the fact that it is some writers of Nbc's The Office, get me even hotter. It hasn't been confirmed but i think even a CGI movie like resident evil degeneration could be neat.

either way i have pre-ordered the game and i cannot wait!

GB3 news is awesome. MIB3 not so much i mean it is great they are doing a three for MIB but the second one ruined it for me. it was like having a date with a hot girl and then on the second date you find out the hotness was only due becuase of the amount of beers you drank the night before. still smith needs to be back for it to even be an ok movie

GB3?! that would be sweet. maybe everyone would disagree with me but i think it'd be awesome if they had the characters from the cartoon ghostbusters extreme, (i think thats what it was called) in the third one. but MIB3 would be awesome, bring will smith back!

Dude Aiiwolf ghostbusters is an icon what movie franchise do you know of that spun off a song and a logo from just the movie. i think it is about time a third one was made i think it should be as funny as the first one and have as much action as the second one.

Not to pull the line from everyone else when they are talking about dragonball if they make the next GB into GBE it will be raping my childhood. F*** the GBE idea! i would much rather see a remake.

Paul Rudd= Peter Venkman
Seth Rogen= Ray Stantz
John Kranski= Igon Spengler
Craig Robinson= Winston Zeddmore

It can be done Easily and well over again.
I'm just worried about Bill's Enthusiasm for the third movie. Plus the writers are the writers of the office i think that this would be the perfect cast.

Yeah ROR Ghostbusters 3 is the horse to bet on here. Although they are going with original cast from GB2 as being rumored on it, probably the best way to do it anyways outside of a reboot.
The only way to save MIB3 could be to get back to basics and have less gayness.

werecreature-
i do love that you threw in John K as Spangler- he could do a nice job,
I think Craig Robinson would be too funny for a Winston.

Maybe Orlando Jones as Winston- he's funny but wouldn't over shadow anyone.

Bill said in a recent interview (2-9) that he was opened depending on the script. i DON'T think it will be like the Extreme cartoon new generation.
I think they've got some left in them. Hell dude,Harrison did a great job in Indiana J4
and he's old too. it's not like they're really running around all the city.
