Horror site BLOODY DISGUSTING is reporting that Dan Knauf, creator of the cult HBO series “Carnivale,” is locked in as showrunner on the upcoming NBC series DRACULA. Knauf will be working alongside show creator Cole Haddon.

The network has already asked for 10 episodes of the show, which is set in the 1890's, and being described as "Dangerous Liaisons meets The Tudors.” The plot hinges on Dracula coming to Victorian England to somehow get revenge on the people that ruined his life hundreds of years ago. Complicating his plan is a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife, whom the vampire finds himself falling hopelessly in love with.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers will be the latest actor to portray Bram Stoker's creation.

The series is a co-production between NBC and the U.K.’s Sky Living.

At least it can't possibly be as bad as that Dracula show from the late 80's/early 90's where Dracula was a blond yuppie fighting against a group of kids...

The best Dracula is always R rated. It's gotta be!
Put a show on HBO in the style of the Stoker's Dracula movie from '92 that starred Hopkins, Reeves and Ryder and I'm in. Frick this NBC stuff!
