Kevin Feige Acknowledges Complications Surrounding The Rights To NAMOR THE SUB-MARINER

Fans have been wondering why there's been no sign of Namor the Sub-Mariner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel boss Kevin Feige has now addressed some of the rights complications surrounding him.

The reason there hasn't been a Hulk movie is because the rights are tied to Universal Pictures somehow. While Marvel Studios is free to use the Jade Giant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mark Ruffalo has said in past interviews that the rival studio doesn't "know how to play well with Marvel."

Now, it seems the same applies to what's happening with Namor the Sub-Mariner; however, the key difference seems to be that Marvel isn't able to use the character at all, hence why he hasn't shown up to help Earth's Mightiest Heroes do battle with threats like the Chitauri invasion, Ultron, and Thanos.

With the Disney/Fox deal, if that pans out, with the Sony rights sharing deal with Spidey, the one big loose end, then, is Namor and Universal. Can you tell us what the status of that is? Is there any chance for him to just pop up in an MCU film? It just sounds like an incredibly complicated situation, for one character.

It is. I think there’s a way to probably figure it out but it does have — it’s not as a clean or clear as the majority of the other characters.

If Marvel could deliver an undersea adventure before Aquaman is released, they probably would have by now. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if it's easy as that and there's a chance Namor won't even factor into Phase 4. That's a shame too, especially as seeing him clash with Black Panther would be so much fun! What do you guys think of Feige's remarks? Let us know that in the comments section.

But for real, I've noticed not as many users on this site today - probably trying to avoid spoilers.

@L0RDbuckethead - I mean, I'm trying to avoid spoilers but that's not really something you have to worry about until the premiere

@HeavyMetal4Life - True. I love me some spoilers though. I want to find out which of my sources gave me unreliable or false info during production.

@L0RDbuckethead - I think I'll be avoiding as many articles as I can that have to do with Infinity War. I've managed to avoid almost all spoilers so far, wouldn't want to break my streak. If I'm watching tv and a tv spot comes on, I just close my eyes. That's how intent I am on not being spoiled.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Best of luck to you, mate. It's hard to do anything on the internet without being spoiled because this film and it's adverts are literally everywhere.

But, I'm seeing the film Thursday night. So if you want any information, hit me up.

On a more serious note, this isn't anything new, we've known that the rights with Namor are complicated. Approach him in a similar way to the Hulk. Have him star in someone else's film and go from there. Cough cough, make him the antagonist in Black Panther 2.
