We are currently living in 'the age of reboots,' with a big portion of films in development now being a reboot/remake of a classic film (Ghostbusters, Terminator, etc.). Now, we are getting a reboot of, get this, the Canadian CGI-animated cartoon known as 'ReBoot.' The show, airing from 1997 to 2001, received critical acclaim, and spawned two made for TV movies following the show's cancellation, as well as a video game adaptation on Sony's PlayStation and a series of web comics in 2008. But more recently, Rainmaker announced in October 2013 that the show would be remade, with an announcement late 2014 that the show had received a new subtitle: The Guardian Code.
In case you didn't know about the show, the plot follows life within a computer, as Guardian Bob is sent from the Net to protect Dot Matrix and Enzo, as well as the other residents of the computer world, known by them as the city 'Mainframe,' from viruses, including Megabyte and Hexadecimal. The company were also hard at work on a film trilogy based on the TV show back in 2008, to the point of a teaser trailer being released, but we were led to believe shortly after that the movies were dead, with no further announcements made since the release of the teaser trailer. That is, until now. Deadline now reports that Warner Bros. has picked up the film rights, developing a film that will follow the new series’ release, which we now know will premiere on Wednesday, August 5th, this year. No cast is announced yet, but reportedly they do have the first few members cast already! Head over to Deadline for more details, and sound off in the usual spot!
