Artist digitally adds super heroes in pictures of the protests happening in Brazil

Inspired on the recent riots and protests against the government that's been going on in Brazil and and how the heroes chose to fight for their ideals in Civil War, digital artists created a Tumblr account where they add a few heroes in the pictures of the riots. Check it out...

Using a series of photos from Ig Aronovich, the people running the Tumblr account “Poder e Responsabilidade” (Power and Responsibility) digitally add the Hulk, Captain America, Batman and others to the streets of São Paulo in photo-manipulations, showing what it'd be like if they were participating in it. The name even goes back to Uncle Ben's famous saying "With great power comes great responsibility".

For those who don't know, Brazil's in the middle of a series of riots and protests made by the general public and students, claiming for better quality in basic services such as education, health and security as opposed to the billions invested in things that are meant for the international public like the World Cup. While it started as protests in some cities against the abusive rise in the public transport fee (Brazil has the worst and most expensive public service in the world), it has escalated and now there are protests in practically every main city of the country against the corruption in the government. All while being repressed by violent police force, tear gas and rubber bullets the size of golf balls and others.

These riots are not being broadcast by the national media, that instead paints the protesters as vandals and insists on saying it's all because of 20 cents (the increase of the bus fee in São Paulo), which is not true. The increase was last drop, the one thing that was missing for the population to hit the streets and claim what's theirs. The international media isn't giving it much attention either.

On the pics itself, The Amazing Spider-Man one has bad perspective and there's something inherintly wrong with Deadpool spraying "No Violence" in the wall. Should have picked a more appropriate character.

The rest are okay.

I deleted my first comment because I decided I don't want to take part in any kind of political discussion.

This is NOT why come to this site for. I'll keep my thoughts about the subject to myself.

Ridiculous and in poor taste. Real people are dying over there.

@ TheManFromMars - no you're right, its better to ignore political unrest & people fighting for their rights(?)...

@ Luminus - what's ridiculous is the level of attention the events in Brazil are getting (or any where else for that matter)... but superhero movies, sure everyone cares more about that.

I find it difficult to understand why people brush these events aside: Marvel studios themselves were funded by Merill Lynch - the company heavily involved in creating the last financial crisis (& probably the next)...?

@Nmaster

People brush it off for a bunch of reasons.

Just don't think its because everyone is a selfish D-bag who only care about CBM's.

It is very rare when people can rise up and be more than their leaders. And when and individual does make that leap then there are usually other mentors involved somewhere.

The biggest reason I think most people ignore these things is fear. Fear that they are alone, fear of punishment. Fear fear fear. From butterflies in your stomach to falling down crying for mommy fear is a crippling sensation.

One day though. One day.

I'm not sure how I feel. Art wise some of these photos look great but this may be in a bit bad taste.

I have no comment on the subject matter.

Yeah I don't really think anyone on these sites are douchbags.. except trolls, but it would be nice to think that people care about the world in the same capacity that the characters in the comic books they read/watch care...

@ Nmaster,

It's much easier to detect the "evil doer" in a mugging scenario than a political scenario though. When its hard to decipher who the bad guy is what can you do?

I'm actually Brasilian and something about these pictures both bother and amuse me. I love my country though, and as a Brasilian in America all I can do is hope that my family is ok!
