The Beat Galactus Quiz in the Chat Room has become a very popular feature here at CBM, and I was lucky enough to be one of Galactus' Heralds to bring you the fun. We had a great turn out, with over 60 people crammed into that room, making it feel like a Mini Cooper at the Ringling Brother's Circus; never seen so many clowns in my life, with the exception of Billy Black who seemed to be conveniently absent.

Anyways, I was asked to create an article, showing what questions were asked, as well the answers, in hopes that we could have a nice, polite and non-angry discussion about them. (Wishful Thinking?)

But first, a big congratulations to THEHAWK, as he was today's big winner! He will receive Volumes 1 & 2 of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I must also acknowledge Soudwave, LoudLon, McLovin, abwchris & FastestManAlive for their great showing today as well. Thanks to all those who also participated in the quiz, as you withstood the chaos in the chat!

Now, on to the questions. Before I begin, let me just say that contrary to popular belief, I am human, and I do make mistakes and I will also acknowledge them when I do. I learned a few things today during the quiz and I thank those who were so generous to point that out! Despite my diligent research, you, the real fans were able to the correct answers for me! If there were any discrepancies that arose during the quiz, I will make note of them below, so you can add in your two cents (or two dollars for some of you). I will include this info in order for you all to get a better understanding of the rules of the game and will hopefull make thisng run a bit smoother next time.

Question 1: In Sin City, whose death was Marv avenging?
Answer: Goldie

Question 2: Which Lantern Corps represents the emotion of Love?
Answer: Violet

Question 3: In which Batman movie does Christopher Walken play a villain?
Answer: Batman Returns
*There was a bit of an issue here as some of the participants simply answered
"Returns," which is only partially correct. The full title of the film is
Batman Returns. Just because Batman is part of the title, it should
not be assumed it is not needed. So, always include the full title of a film!

Question 4: How many women have portrayed Cat Woman in the comics?
Answer: 2
*This was another question that brought up red flags. Initially, I had the
answer as 1, Selina Kyle. In the research I had done prior, no other
character names came up. Upon further discussion, I learned that Holly
Robinson had also donned the claws and acted as Cat Woman.

Question 5: In The Dark Knight, what is the name on the nametag the Joker
wears when dressed as a nurse in the hospital?

Answer: Matilda
*This question confused a lot of folks as many thought the answer was "Dent."
If you look at an image of that scene, Joker is wearing a Dent political
badge, but the nametag above that reads Matilda. An image is included,
click it for a larger view.

Question 6: What is the name of the cluster missile that Tony Stark's
company, Stark Industries, develops in the movie Iron Man?

Answer: Jericho

Question 7: How many comics/graphic novels of Alan Moore’s have been adapted
into movies?

Answer: 5
*These include Watchmen, From Hell, LXG, V for Vendetta. The one I had
initially left of was The Swamp Thing. It was Moore's run that they
used to adapt the film.

Question 8: Who played “The Shadow” in 1994?
Answer: Alec Baldwin

Question 9: Who “killed” Jason Todd/ Robin?
Answer: Joker
*Some discussion arose on this one pertaining to the wording of the question.
I placed the word "killed" in quotation, implying that he never really died,
but returned as the Red Hood. Others argued that he indeed die, but was
brought back to life. Discuss below.

Question 10: In X2: X-Men United, what do Nightcrawler’s markings represent?
Answer: His Sins

Question 11: What is the address for Xavier’s Institute?
Answer: 1407 Graymalkin Lane
*This one caught people off guard and I am fairly certain people had to look
the answer up online. The address is actually prominent in the pages of
comics, but it just often overlooked. Once people saw what the answer was,
it became very familiar.

Question 12: How are Cyclops and Cable related in the X-Men comics?
Answer: Father and Son

Question 13: In Spider-Man 2, how much money did Aunt May give Peter for his
birthday?

Answer: $20

Question 14: Who is Leonard Snart?
Answer: Captain Cold, a rogue of The Flash

Question 15: What historical figure does V’s mask resemble in V for Vendetta?
Answer: Guy Fawkes

Question 16: Who kills Rorschach in ‘Watchmen'?
Answer: Dr. Manhattan

Question 17: In Superman: The Movie, where is Lex Luthor’s lair located?
Answer: 200 feet below Park Avenue
*This question brought on some debate also. Originally, I had the answer
listed as below Grand Central Station. But others tossed out answers like
in a subway, abandoned railway station, among others. After later discussion,
the correct answer is 200 feet below Park Avenue.

Question 18: Who is Oswald Cobblepot?
Answer: The Penguin
*I am man enough to admit when I screw up. I screwed up. I had to disqualify
this question, as I had written the question as "Who is Chester
Cobblepot, rather than Oswald. I may be forced to turn in my geek card after
that mishap.

Question 19: What MAJOR DC Comics character was created by William Moulton Masrton, a/k/a Charles Moulton?
Answer: Wonder Woman

Question 20: What year did DC Comics release “The Death of Superman”?
Answer: 1992

There you have it. As I stated earlier, I am only human. Regardless, I hope everyone had fun. The Beat Galactus Quiz is something that Galactus and I will be expanding in the near future to ensure it becomes a regular feature here on ComicBookMovie.com, so be on the look out for updates on that. in the mean time, some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is welcome and helpful, so please feel free to leave me your suggestions, comments and insights below. And of course, feel free to discuss the answers!

This is cool and all, but weekly seems a little much for this. I know I don't half to participate, but still, I think once every two or three weeks is better.

I'd just suggest making more questions that are hard to have controversy about (address of Xavier's school for example).

the contest is a great idea, but everyone was being extremely annoying and immature, making it less intense and competitive and more obnoxious. I'll be back next time though. hopefully people will grow up a little by then :)

@EsseX- Glad someone would have. I really thought more people would have gotten that one.

@golden123- the way it will be set up will likely answer the question of "Weekly may be too much." Stay tuned for more info on that!

@ ecks

the quiz thing is a good idea, its just too bad people don't know how to act.

how can anyone be expected to give it an actual chance when there are 60 people that can't stop talking. There were times when your questions didn't even show up in the chat window because everyone was too busy saying shit that has nothing to do with anything.

ecksmanfan - 7/29/2011, 10:47 AM
@CDB: I agree, it was difficult and frustrating. We are working on finding a solution (which may take a while, and suggestions are encouraged).

@Jack: I was watching Goonies as I was writing the quiz. Felt like such a tool on that one.

@tea: You have called me worse things....in bed.
