Many of you may have not heard of city of heroes/villains but it is a massive multiplayer role playing game(MMORPG) where you can create you own custom super hero/villain. First thing you do is chose an archtype a.k.a. a power set. There are 7 total, blaster-shoots energy, electricity, sonic scream, etc., controller- controls plants, earth, weather, etc., Defender- heals, radiation, Ice, etc., scrapper- attack with swords, martial arts, spines, etc., and a tank- superhuman strength, power attacks, ice attacks, etc.. For defenders and controller secondary powers are attacking. For blasters its mixture of attacks and controls. For tanks and scrappers its defense against damage. The final 2 archtypes are warshade and peacebringer who have a mixture of all the attacks and revolve around a symbiotic relationship between a human and another species. After chosing powers you can custom design your character with a variety of suits, armor, gloves, boots, belts, etc.. Any questions? i will include pics asap. FYI the fansite image is a character that I created that is looking at a gigantic octupus that resides in one of the city areas. Usually it takes 20-30 heroes to take it down.

City of Heroes is similar to World of Warcraft in its size and the game play features and operations. main difference being your not an Orc swinging an mace in some Dragon's Lair, your a superhero (or villain) patrolling an ENORMOUS city doing good deeds (or wreaking havoc) to up your rep and gain influence. It is a pay to play online game, but you can download the game and play it for 14 days free to try it out. I had alot of fun just making new characters and trying to make marvel characters in the game. But my favorite was a Blaster with the Energy projection and Energy Manipulation power sets while choosing super leaping as my travel skill. Fun game everyone who likes comics should at least try the free trial.

You have to be very careful about making a character that has the same name or look as a copy right character. The MODS will Generisize you. This is a blanking of your name and costume if the get a complaint about you. They will give you an option to rename and remake your suit, however. CoH/CoV went through a court battle with Marvel because it was easy to make a Wolverine or Hulk clone. They prefer you to create an original character. BTW, I got my Power Girl clone Generisized. :(
