In My Opinion: Marvel Vs. DC

Two Cents on why Marvel movies are taking a huge lead against DC movies...

As a hardcore advocate of Comic Book movies and TV shows, I can't help but wonder why DC comics can't make a decent movie besides Batman and Superman. During this year, multiple CBM have come out: Thor, Green Lantern, Captain America, Transformers, Conan, X-men First Class, etc. Now I saw atleast 3/4 of these movies for the main reason of them being childhood memories of super powered crime fighters kicking some ass. But am I the only who has noticed that DC comics can't do anything right?

To begin let's leave Batman and Superman out of the equation. Green Lantern for instance, I personally have yet to see this movie due to it's awful reviews. Which actually upsets me due to the fact that GL is one of my top 5 Justice League members. Originally, I remember a couple of years before they decided to make this movie they were planning on doing a full fledged Justice League movie with rapper Common playing John Stewart which would've been a much better film in my point of view. I'm pretty sure that this film doesn't give us comic book nerds any hope for a JL movie, which is a huge shame. Watchmen was another movie that I personally didn't find all that great. Sure there was a lot of action and the plot was somewhat good, but in my opinion I think the hype that people built for this movie was too much.

Now what is it about Marvel that makes the majority of their movies great? I think that what makes them different from the rest is that, they fit a realistic level. For instance, while watching Captain America, you could actually imagine that happening to soldiers back in the 1940's. I mean sure certain things aren't possible like Mutants with special powers destroying the world but it does set your imagination ablaze. That's why Chris Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogies have been so amazing. They capture the reality of certain situations, sure certain things are a little far-fetched but a lot of that could possibly happen. With some good however, there must also be some bad and Marvel has made some very bad moves(i.e. Daredevil, the first Hulk, Spider-man 3, Blade 3, etc) So to conclude I believe that if DC wants to step up the competition, they can't just rely on the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel for the entire fight. Like me personally, I'd love to see a Flash movie. I will say this though with the success of all of his movies, Chris Nolan will surely make the new Superman movie insanely good. So DC now you know, if you want to somehow win the fight for ultimate CBM master, just hire Chris Nolan to bring all of your heroes to the big screen.

Yeah... okay... um...

DC's characters are too "Godly". But that's what makes them so iconic. Marvel character's are more relatable. They're average people who became "super".

Without a company, like Disney [who knows how to franchise], behind them, I just don't see any success in DC's live action future.

Break up the paragraph, add some pictures, I got bored while reading.

More Marvel vs. DC...
Are there any OTHER subjects out there for CBMs?

It's not really DC's fault, Warner Bros has them by the balls just like FOX and Columbia has some of Marvel's characters

Nolan has made two good Batman movies (please don't argue 'oh this batman movie made more than Marvel's movies blah blah) but personally, I much rather see Batman take on some of his super villains. I want to see a funny yet disturbed joker, I want to see Harley, Poisen Ivy, and more of Two Face, Clay Face, etc. Just imagine Batman taking on Mr.Freeze, much in vein of Thor verses the Frost Giants. Sure Batman isn't a god, but putting him up against almost unbeatable villains makes him so much more than just a man.

Now if DC can branch out, properly this time, instead of divulging money into merchandice for advertisement (I'm looking at you Green Lantern) then yes bring on the rest of the Justice League members. Sadly, if DC plans on making movies much like Green Lantern, then is it even worth it to us fans to see these movies? In my opinion, if DC has a lot to prove with Man of Steel. Sure its got Nolan producing, and Snyder directing, but Snyder's last work (Sucker Punch) had everything but a coherent story. What happens if Man of Steel were to be a big flop? Does that mean only more Batman movies?

I agree with everything you said ^ like clay face or the ventriloquist would be ideal for a batman movie but you have a point if the story doesn't go along with Man of Steel then DC I don't know...

Hold up! Now I'm a marvel fanboy(I always state this) and I think the reason that DC can't maneuver is because of WB is all in their shit. I think WB puts a lot of pressure on Dc to make some sort of big movie without having to go to in depth on the character(s). Watchmen to me is second only to batman. It was a fantastic movie that had many parallels to the comic and the multi layered story was great. I think the problem with watchmen was that it was too big of an idea for movie going audiences to grasp.

I have a big problem with your editorial. You start out with a flawed premise/basis for it. Your editorial wonders why DC can't make a quality movie. However, you leave Superman and Batman out of this and then state that you have not seen Green Lantern. You nearly lost me there.
That said, you made some interesting points, although for me GL fires the imagination as much as mutants do.
PS-GL was not a fantastic movie, but it is not nearly as bad as many of the fans say on this site.

No, actually the whole point was to get on board with everyone else who panned Green Lantern because they heard it was bad. Reporting an opinion 2nd hand makes you worse than an idiot. Here's $5 bucks, go see it and THEN you MIGHT be qualified to say something. If you're so lazy or led by the nose by others that you can't actually be bothered to experience what you're talking about AS IF you know something, STFU.
