Seth MacFarlane's Live-Action FLINTSTONES Project No Longer Happening

The long mooted and in development television series reboot of THE FLINTSTONES is according to Seth MacFarlane, no longer happening.

While the classic Hanna-Barbera property The Flintstones is experiencing something of a resurgance with the surprisingly brilliant, smart and darkly funny Mark Russell and Steve Pugh comic title from DC Comics the show has never been able to exist on the screen outside of its original 1960's animated show with much success.

There were a number of forgetful one off compilation shows or Bamm-Bamm centric spin-offs and then of course the 1994 live-action film (and it's severely less successful follow-up) but since then, outside of the world of comics no one has done anything with the property on screen. Enter Family Guy and American Dad! creator Seth MacFarlane who way back in 2011 was reported to be working on a live-action reboot of The Flintstones as a "TV and film property" set to air in 2013.

The more astute of you may notice that it's the tail end of 2017 and no such shows have materialised. In a Reddit AMA last week, Seth was asked about the state of his Flintstone's project for him to reply:

What this means for the beloved Flintstones property remains to be seen, but with Seth MacFarlane's current live-action TV series The Orville getting less than stellar responses it may be for the best.

The Orville created by Seth MacFarlane and starring; Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes and Peter Macon airs on FOX Thursdays 9/8c

Good, go back to your mediocre ratings-trap show Family Guy.

This has been known for some years. Also I'm fairly certain it would have been animated.

The Flintstones made by Seth Mcfarlene seems like an ok idea until the Flintstones start acting exactly like the Griffins.
Just let him make a live action Family Guy instead.
Let's leave the Flinstones alone. Maybe make a live action tv show for Flintstones. I loved the John Goodman performance as Fred.

I'd like to see a PG rated animated Flintstones movie that is family friendly in a Peanuts movie kind of way.
