While the classic Hanna-Barbera property
The Flintstones is experiencing something of a resurgance with the surprisingly brilliant, smart and darkly funny Mark Russell and Steve Pugh comic title from
DC Comics the show has never been able to exist on the screen outside of its original 1960's animated show with much success.
There were a number of forgetful one off compilation shows or Bamm-Bamm centric spin-offs and then of course the 1994 live-action film (and it's severely less successful follow-up) but since then, outside of the world of comics no one has done anything with the property on screen. Enter
Family Guy and
American Dad! creator Seth MacFarlane who way back in 2011 was reported to be working on a live-action reboot of
The Flintstones as a "TV and film property" set to air in 2013.
The more astute of you may notice that it's the tail end of 2017 and no such shows have materialised. In a Reddit AMA last week, Seth was asked about the state of his

What this means for the beloved
Flintstones property remains to be seen, but with Seth MacFarlane's current live-action TV series
The Orville getting less than stellar responses it may be for the best.
