So far the movie season of 2014 has been great; we've had giant kaiju brawls, Groundhog Day with Tom Cruise, superheroes, and Tatum partnered Hill try their hand at college. But do you really want to be the dork whose movie collection is nothing but guys in spandex? I offer you some great choices to get psyched for this year.

5. Chef. Directed by: Jon Favreau. Starring: Jon Favreau, Scarlett Johansson, Sofia Vergara.

I was a big fan of Swingers and Made as a kid; In fact Made was the only thing the house hold could agree on. So seeing Favreau return to  his indie movie roots is great and refreshing. It has one hell of a cast, it looks like a quirky little comedy and that's all anyone could ask for. A quality movie from the dude who made probably one of the best superhero movies ever.

4.  The Voices. Directed by : Marjane Satrapi. Starring : Ryan Reynolds, Anna Kendrick, Gemma Arterton.

The Voices is a little indie comedy/horror film starring Ryan Reynolds as Jerry, a mentally ill and anti-social individual who often times has little talks with his moral compass dog and psycopathic cat. This is a gem I heard about from sundance and I cannot wait for it's release.

3. Walk Among The Tombstones.  Directed by : Scott Frank. Starring : Liam Neeson, Dan Stevens.

Liam Neeson has had a mix bag of career choices. For every great action film like Taken you get a slump of a film like Taken 2. This one in particular is more of a murder mystery than an action schlock fest. As described by many as "True Detective meets Taken." I am sold.

2. Gone Girl. Directed by: David Fincher. Starring: Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris.

If you were to ask me why I will see Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice my answer will be Ben Affleck. I couldn't be anymore excited for him and only him. Gone Girl combined with Affleck's rise in credibilty with Fincher's expertise in telling a haunting story works for a winning combination.

1. Foxcatcher. Directed by: Bennet Miller. Starring : Channing Tatum, Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo.

I will admit I jumped on the Tatum hype train because of 21 Jump Street, and now for some odd reason I am now a big fan of a guy I used to hate. Tatum could go far if he chooses more roles like this, Carell looks eerie and deadly, and Ruffalo looks like.. well Ruffalo (which isn't a bad thing.) Foxcatcher has my undivided attention.

Honorable Mentions :

1. The Equalizer. Directed by:  Antoine Fuqua. Starring: Denzel Washington, Chloe Grace Moretz.

Reason for watching: Chloe Grace Moretz as a prostitute.

2. The Interview. Directed by: Seth Rogen/ Evan Goldberg. Starring: Seth Rogen, James Franco, Randall Park.

Reason for watching: Seth Rogen and James Franco reunited for the Pineapple Express successor.

3. Kill The Messenger. Directed by: Michael Cuesta. Starring: Jeremy Renner, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Liotta, Michael K Williams.

Reason for watching: Hawkeye, Ramona Flowers, and Omar in a conspiracy movie.

So anyways that's the list. Hopefully I have broadened your interests have gotten you hyped in some solid movies this year. Leave your comments below and check out The Three Angry Nerds podcast starring fellow users TheincredibleHulksta, Lozzy, and myself. Thanks.

I agree with most of these choice. Aside from Chef and The Voices, these are all must-see films for me. The all look really good. Nice work, bud.

"Reason for watching: Chloe Grace Moretz as a prostitute."

Given that Chloe is still underage... that's kinda creepy

It isn't my fault you didn't understand A Tale of Two Kitties. It had layers.

Yep, those films look dis interesting and boring. Should have added the snorefest of "Lucy" to that list.

Yes! Cannot wait for The Interview. Seth Rogen and James Franco have been killing it lately. Pineapple Express, This Is The End, and Neighbors are in my opinion some of the best comedies of our generation.

I just saw a trailer for a movie with RDJ in it called The Judge.

The Judge looks good @Nova. Fox catcher looks cool cause Carell looks like he could have a breakout performance. And gone girl looks cool mostly cause it's Fincher and Affleck looks good. Would've liked it better if Affleck directed though to be honest.

Hey, great movie article. I didn't give it a thumbs up, 'cause it isn't really about CBMs, so I can't see it being on MAIN, but I did enjoy it.

Good choice. I'm real keen to see a few of these and reckon they'll be solid. I hadn't heard of The Voices or Renner's flick but I'll definitely give em a go.

Equalizer does look a bit shitty :)
