Earlier this week, National Geographic announced that they had enlisted 2x Academy Award-nominated actor Will Smith (Bright) to host their upcoming 10-episode global event series, One Strange Rock, which comes to us from the minds of Academy Award-nominated director Darren Aronofsky (mother!) and award-winning producer Jane Root (America The Story of Us).

Smith, who plays Deadshot in the burgeoning DC Films Universe, made the announcement himself on Tuesday morning with a brief teaser video for the promising-looking series. Following Smith's announcement, Aronofsky provided a statement that expressed his immense excitement at getting an opportunity to work with one of his all-time favorite talents. "I am thrilled to have Will Smith on board to guide our series. His charisma, intelligence and humanity will add greatly to the project, helping welcome viewers into this unique narrative about the mind-blowing wonders that make life on Earth possible."

The series will take viewers on an epic journey across 45 countries, six continents, and outer space, redefining natural history and science genres, as we know them, in the process.

Check out the teaser below:

ONE STRANGE ROCK is the extraordinary story of Earth — our curiously calibrated, interconnected planet — and why it is special and uniquely brimming with life among a largely unknown but harsh cosmic arena. Anchoring the series is an elite group of astronauts who see Earth’s bigger picture; they provide unique perspectives and relate personal memoirs of our planet seen from space.

Looks interesting and I'll definitely give it a watch but this has nothing whatsoever to do with either Comic-Books or Comic-Book Movies.

@Forthas - Remember when she made a big deal out of how awesome Lord and Miller were and how they were gonna make such a great Star Wars film? Good times.

@Forthas - Here's a tip/question: Why don't you write the articles yourself instead of commenting on articles for other people to do it? The site allows people to contribute articles.

@imthedoctor - I used to...but I am too lazy! It would have taken me an hour to do the two news stories. A few times when I did it someone posted the same story which means I wasted my time.

Here is another one by the way...

@imthedoctor - What they should/could do is have a special section where people can both post articles and others can "claim" them. So it would reduce duplication AND me or someone else could put these article/links in a less conspicuous place.
