So, the last one was met with a bit of a mixed reaction. Did the new music make a difference to ya? Seriously though, if I hadn't seen director Scott Stewart's previous effort Legion(also starring Paul Bettany) I would be a bit more optimistic about this. It does look like it could be entertaining. But then, so did Legion!

Thanks to Filmshaft for the clip, here's the official synopsis..

Set for release in spring 2011, this Screen Gems thriller is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi ride, set in an alternate world – one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on a quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess who possesses otherworldly fighting skills. Directed by Scott Charles Stewart and written by Cory Goodman along with Min-Woo Hyung from the graphic novel series “Priest”, PRIEST stars Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, Brad Dourif, Stephen Moyer, and Christopher Plummer.

Actually... from this trailer, it looks alot better than Legion. The first trailer, not so much. Urban ROCKS in this! Makes me all giddy for Judge Dredd ;))

@ rormachine

most anime/manga to film turns out shit.

1.speed racer
2.blood the last vampire
3.guyver
4.dragonball z
5.priest

i think the best adaption i've seen is battle royale.

their thinking of making akira, but setting it in america.

what a shit idea, keep it set in japan like the anime/manga & a full japanese cast & crew.

it'll be a lot better that way.

Americanising a Japanese concept isn't a bad thing. Making it suck is what's bad. The same Dragonball Evolution script in Japanese would have sucked just as much. Akira could be shot in a completely fictionnal city(like i believe it's supposed to be), starring dutch actors and it wouldn't make an ounce of difference. If the script, actors and director are any good, the film will be good aswell. DBE didn't suck because Goku was american and went to high school. It sucked because it was a badly written/acted/directed film in itself. Cameron will make an out of this world Battle Angel Alita film, you just watch ;)

ELLEN PAGE FOR GALLY/BATTLE ANGEL ALITA!!! ;))

the problem with legion was the lack of exposition. the acting, special effects etc...i thought were all good. and the story had potential there just wasnt enough of it. they didnt explain anything. i think 3 or 4 added scenes where they explained what was happening and why really could have made a difference in that movie.

Smalvillefanricky, didn't I see a post from you on the True Blood article saying it sucked because |vamps are out-dated since Twilight?;)

Pooch, I agree the acting was ok but that's really about it for me. Script was the main problem, maybe if Priest has different screenwriters it will be better.

Maybe the director gain some experience from Legion. And besides it's Paul Bettany I'll watch anything that has this guy in it.
