It isn't often we see an actor nab a role they were seemingly "born to play".
Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier comes to mind. Once
Jon Bernthal was announced as Frank Castle, a.k.a The Punisher, for
Marvel's Daredevil's second season it was like "well...yeah".
I rarely use the word
perfect when it comes to casting (honestly, fans use it waaayyy too much) but I feel
Bernthal is the perfect choice for the Punisher. It's a matter of attitude, acting ability and, of course, the look. He looks like he could blow a thug's kneecaps off, pull up a chair and watch him bleed to death.
Plus, he's only 37. The possibility of seeing more of him down the line throughout the MCU is pretty strong. Big screen? Hopefully. His own show on Netflix? I wouldn't be surprised. Marvel already switched things up after the success of Daredevil. If
Bernthal's Punisher strikes a cord with fans Marvel could do it again.
If (when?) the day comes where Marvel and Netflix move forward with a 13 episode series for The Punisher, maybe the title for the trailers could look something like this: Check out this fan made animated title made by YouTube user
Shadow Rabbit.
