THE PUNISHER Star Jon Bernthal's MCU Debut As Frank Castle May Have Been Confirmed

We've been hearing a lot about the possible return of Frank Castle recently, and Jon Bernthal's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as The Punisher may now have been conformed by an Instagram post...

There's been talk of Jon Bernthal potentially reprising the role of The Punisher from the now defunct Netflix series for quite a while, but the rumors really began to pick up steam following the MCU debuts of Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and The Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), and we may finally have confirmation that Frank Castle will indeed be making his presence felt during Phase 5.

Actor Kasey O’Keefe shared an Instagram photo of Bernthal, noting that he's "looking forward to working with you During Marvel Phase 5!" He doesn't mention which project, but does add the #Punisher hashtag below.

Though this obviously shouldn't be taken as official word on the character's return, it certainly adds to the already compelling evidence. Recently, Rosario Dawson seemingly let slip that Bernthal's take on Frank Castle will be back, and even though the Sin City actress would later walk back her comments, it was enough to convince fans that the ultra-violent vigilante is MCU-bound.

UPDATE: So, it seems Mr. O'Keefe has made a bit of a habit out of posing for photos with celebs and saying how much he's "looking forward to working" with them. He did tag Bernthal in this post, but yeah, probably wouldn't put too much stock in this after all!

Check out the Instagram post below.

Bernthal is rumored to have a role in the planned Daredevil: Born Again Disney+ series. Castle and Matt Murdock have a lot of history in the comic books, and even though they don't cross paths in Frank Miller's Born Again comic, we already know that the show is going to have to make some significant changes to the source material.

It might be worth noting that the upcoming Daredevil series may not be the first time we see the character, as we've also heard whispers that he could factor into Echo.

PERFECTION

Marvel is on fire. There isn't any wonder why the haters stay crying

@DCasAhobby - I'm so happy he is returning. If not him then Thomas Jane reprising his role from the 2004 film would have also been perfection. But Bernthal definitely nailed it and I'm grateful as a fan to see him return to the role.

No way his appearance tops the prison fight scene from DD. To this day, that’s one of the hardest fight scenes ever.

Prepare for a much watered down Punisher on D+

@MuadDib - I definitely loved the gym fight he had with the Russians and how he used free weights as brass knuckles lol.

@MuadDib - Doubt it. They can definitely get away with the same kind of scenes, just with less blood. Violence is usually alright, but its the blood that makes it "graphic violence" and mandates a higher rating.

Good. I loved the episode with him facing off with Kingpin behind bars.

I feel like the better question is, who is Kasey O’Keefe?

@thewanderer - Yeah this "actor" all but guaranteed that he will never work for Marvel, and definitely not with John Bernthal in phase 5.

Hopefully it’s more mob centric. The military aspect was interesting but him fighting the mob is better in my opinion.

@TheSuperMex - I agree. It would be cool to see him take on Hammerhead and bump heads with Spider-Man regarding killing villains. I'd like to see Peter get more mature and adult guidance from Murdock, Castle, and maybe even Jessica Jones. So he can understand the ugly side of the streets he wants to protect. The Avengers have glorified superheroes that it's time The Defenders show the ugly side of it.
