BLACK MIRROR Will "Be Right Back" As Netflix Teases Season 5 Renewal With An Intriguing Video

The future for Netflix's Black Mirror will be "brighter than ever." It's unclear what this means exactly, but it certainly sounds like we're getting another season of the sci-fi show. Check out the teaser!

Black Mirror will be right back. We just don't know when yet.

In a teaser posted to social media today, streaming giant Netflix seemingly confirmed its hit sci-fi suspense/drama will return for a fifth season. The announcement comes in the form of a brief video highlighting several episodes from the anthology series that have received critical praise, including USS Callister, The Entire History of You, White Christmas, and the Emmy-winning San Junipero. Of course, the teaser itself is one big Easter egg to season four's Black Museum, which contained a reference to nearly every episode in the series.

Interestingly, the final messaging doesn't contain a premiere date or or your standard "Coming Soon." Rather, the text reads, "Be Right Back." You may recall this is the title of the Season 2 episode which starred Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson.

The fourth season of Black Mirror was released in late 2017. It consisted of six episodes, including several firsts for the series: Jodie Foster being the series' first female director with Arkangel; the black-and-white Metalhead; and the space epic USS Callister. At this time, we don't have a premiere date or an episode count for what would be Season 5 of Black Mirror, but it certainly sounds promising given the future is "brighter than ever" slogan. Then again, given the nature of the show, this also has a sort of ominous tone to it. If we've learned anything over the years, future technology is never as bright as it seems.

All 19 episodes of Black Mirror are currently available for streaming on Netflix.

@aflynn -
Surprised we have not seen a new trailer to be honest - i guess they are saving it until Friday 9th March with Agents Of Shield episode 100.

When you finally meet someone who loves Umbrella Academy as much as you do.

@aflynn - San Junipero is still my favorite episode of the series.

Honestly, I hope it's just a one off special again. Series 3 was outstanding but I was really really underwhelmed with series 4, it's really starting to recycle the same tropes and ideas and it was showing clearly.

Really enjoy the show, though season four had some of my least favorite episodes like Metalhead.

@MrCamw1 - Yeah the whole concept behind metalhead was Boston Dynamic robots are kind of creepy. What if they became killer robots? And then they made no effort to cover why they were hunting people or what was happening and just threw in a lame twist at the end.

I still thought it had some well developed moments of tension though. I didn't hate it but it was definitely one the weaker Black Mirror episodes.

@MrDandy - agreed. My other two least favorites were Crocodile and Arkangel, though Arkangel I saw what there going for and appreciated It, I could not believe the daughter was 15

@MrCamw1 - I actually really enjoyed Arkangel and thought it was well done. Ending was a little rushed but besides that I liked how it covered parenting apps and overprotective parents.
GhostDog

Really liked this season. Save for a few weak episodes, 2 and 3 imo being the weakest. Episodes 1 and 4 being the strongest.

@BlackBeltJones - I actually really liked Archangel.

I wasn't a fan of Metalhead or Crocodile.

@MrDandy - Archangel was solid until the final act. But it had some holes.

It felt rushed and the episode was a little predictable for me. It was very simplistic and clumsy.

Like the dog being blurred and the blocking of porn made nonsense to me. Comparing immediate physical threats with the menace of disturbing onlime imagery is awkward.

I'm in the midst of season 3. I'm on my way, don't start without me!

This is the second coming of the Twilight Zone. I see them adding an extra episode each season. I want MORE! After losing Family Guy, this is one of the few reasons that I keep my Netflix account. Keep up the good work. My two cents...

Last season was pretty damn good. Love this show and would love to get another season.

USS Callister and Hang the DJ were definitely the great standouts of last season.

I only just finally saw the last 2 episodes about a week ago. I'd heard people weren't exactly raving about Metalhead, now I fully understand why. It was almost literally just a Walking Dead episode.
If that series didn't exist already (& mind you I gave up on TWD like two seasons ago, I can't believe the amount of people still watching it there are), than it might've worked just as is. but otherwise I could've used some more context about the "dogs" themselves.

This series is low-key spinning connective threads that make more and more of the standalone episodes part of a singular universe with episodes told at different points in the time line.

Unpopular opinion:

Hang the DJ > San Junipero.
